Google Bad Review 1: I wouldn’t normally leave negative reviews online but I feel it’s necessary here. I was a loyal client of this salon for four years. I always saw Sam, who was fantastic and faultless. She coloured my hair beautifully for years, including for my wedding. After lockdown, I booked in in June for a full head of highlights and a cut – Sam wasn’t working at that time so I saw another member of staff. I am naturally mousy blonde, and after a 4 hour appointment (which I’d had to arrange childcare for), my hair was dark brown/ pink. It was like something from a disaster movie! I was rushed back to the sinks and various attempts were made to remove the colour, which all failed and dried my hair out terribly. When it became clear that the pink wasn’t going to wash out, I was told that the colour would ‘fade naturally, over 2-3 weeks’ and that I should just wait. I could have cried. There was no concern from the team there at all, from my hairdresser to the receptionist. I had to argue so hard for a correction appointment which they were very reluctant to offer. When they eventually agreed to book me in for a second appointment they tried to charge me the full price (£300!!) for my cut and colour before I left. I was horrified and asked to speak to the manager, whose customer service was appalling. He was patronising, got my name wrong, showed no concern that I was leaving his salon with dark pink hair instead of blonde, and told me that it was the salon’s policy that I should pay for the colour because I had used up their hair dye!!! I think I was speechless. Eventually, he agreed to let me pay for the colour a few days later after it had been corrected, and actually suggested that he was doing me a special favour. I have rarely received such poor treatment from anyone, which was especially galling when I consider how many thousands of pounds I must have spent here over the past few years, and what a sense of loyalty I had always felt to this salon. My colour was corrected a few days later as far as possible. It still had a pinkish tone after another full head of highlights, but it was more bearable. I was made to pay in full for the treatment this time, which I was very surprised by, but I did pay. Honestly, I just wanted to get out of there.
The reason I am writing this review now is that, 3 months on, my hair colour is brassy – it never really lost the pinkish tone – and my hair itself is so dry and brittle from all the products used on it. It just isn’t the same hair it used to be. I continue to regret ever having visited this salon, and I was interested to read other reviews from people being told that colour mistakes would ‘fade!’. I was told that the salon would call me a couple of weeks following the correction to check how the colour was doing, but no one ever called. I was made to feel completely unimportant as a customer, and left the salon genuinely wanting to hide my head under a hat. Surely this isn’t right. It really feels as if this place needs a huge overhaul in how it approaches customer service and I wanted to share this as a warning to others considering visiting. I don’t want anything more from the salon, I just wanted to share my experience. I am currently planning a visit to a different hair salon to have my hair coloured in October, and won’t be returning to Gina Conway again.

Google Bad Review (2): Although the sign outside says blow dries are £25, I was booked in and charged £37 for one after repeatedly asking if I would be charged the “walk in” rate (which is what was advertised).
When I asked about the discrepancy, the person at the front desk acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. Tip: your customers generally see large signs posted outside of your store front.
The stylist was far from pleasant and didn't make eye contact one time with me during the entire interaction.
This birthday treat to myself was more of a hassle than a treat. Hopefully the service changes, as I love the Aveda salons I've been to in the states.
