Google Bad Review 1: Our mother’s funeral took place on the 17/12/2018. This I know was a while back. I don’t know whether improvements have been made since then. Our experience throughout booking the funeral and the outcome should be out there for potential customers to see. We found the attitude of a couple of employees that dealt with our booking to be rather rude. From the first day of booking our mother’s funeral there were issues that threatened a good Send off. On the first visit to book the funeral my sister and I attempted to park in West & Co’s. Dagenham car park. There was no room at all. We could not park in a space. We just abandoned the car in the middle of the car park. Once inside the funeral home I could not see any more clients, so why was the car park so full?!! We discussed and booked the funeral. On leaving the premises we had to back out all the way. There was no room to turn around and drive forwards. On reversing back there were several cars parked to the right of the building. The space was very tight and as a result we knocked one of the employee’s cars. I paid £250 to the employee to have the car repaired. A few days after booking the funeral I realised that we didn’t have an Order Of Service. When I phoned to sort this out I asked why this had not been mentioned. The answer given was, “not everybody wants an Order of Service”!! The attitude of the female employee I thought was very rude and dismissive. The weekend before the funeral I booked an extra car due to concerns of a family member having the potential to wreck the funeral. The female employee at West & Co. Dagenham was made aware of the sensitive situation. She replied that the pull bearers could not get involved in family issues. We understood this. I ordered the the extra car to pick up my sister, myself and my family at an alternative address. The family member we were concerned about still managed to disrupt our plans and wreck the pick up. He kicked off at our pick up point and all hell let loose. This was not the fault of West & Co., but my sister and I were not happy with the way the situation was handled at the time. On receiving the final invoice a payment was marked up for an organist that had played at the funeral service. An organist did play on the day. We had not requested this. We had requested a particular piece of music from West & Co’s. partner library. We had selected our choices of music in good time. We were not advised that the particular piece of music would not be available. The particular hymn was a family favourite, so a big disappointment. My sister and I were so upset and traumatised by the whole experience and doubt whether we will ever get over the whole experience. As a result I recently emailed Jeremy West who had no empathy or apology for the shoddy service given. He did not get back straight away. I left it for a while and then emailed him again. I typed up the whole sorry story. There was no empathy or concern that a client was unhappy with the service given. He was more concerned that his staff had been criticised. There was no suggestion that our grievances be properly addressed or any sort of apology given. This company I feel is definitely one to avoid.
