Google Bad Review 1:  I am writing this review because I read all the reviews on both Treatwell and Google before booking and I feel the reviews provided do not give a fair representation.

Firstly, the “spa” is not “tucked away” – it sits directly in the gym so while we were waiting we heard the sound of people running on machines over bass heavy workout music. Not exactly the tranquil vibe you'd expect.

Secondly, despite calling to change the booking as my friend for whom this was a birthday treat was not able to get a babysitter, they were clearly not aware of the change and one of the therapists almost started arguing with me about it. They were clearly upset about this prospect. There was no receptionist to greet us and we were rushed through the health questionnaire. Noone checked mine.

To continue, the “therapists” did not ask whether there was any part of the body to focus on or anything else. I am not sure which one of us had the swedish massage (which I had called to change to a deep tissue and the person answering the phone confirmed) and which the supposed deep tissue. All I can say is that I was privy to some slightly deeper pressure on my back and my partner on his legs. It was a lot of oil and stroking, like a turkey being basted.

Finally, after the massage the lady came back in a minute after leaving while we were undressed, I was literally topless, to retrieve her phone which had been charging in the room. She then accidentally pushed a chair into my naked body. Accident, of course. But I have never experienced something like it. Why is the phone being charged in this room? Why can it not be retrieved after we have dressed and left?

If a deep tissue massage is not within the skillset of the spa, it should not be listed on the menu. If the therapists that day cannot provide it then do not book it. Overall this was the worst massage I have ever had in London in over 10 years and probably third worst massage in my life (after one in Bulgaria and one in Slovenia).

In the end I was happy my friend had cancelled as this would not have been a very nice birthday treat.

Google Bad Review (2):  Calling this a spa is like making a silk purse out or a sows ear

My daughter bought me a Mother’s Day pamper retreat spa day and we were excited to spend the day together – and we’re so disappointed.

We should have known something was up after when we called to confirm our booking and 3 calls later we found they had us booked in on the wrong day.

A dilapidated environment and unbelievably unrelaxing. Workout music so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation- no where to relax or retreat. Two uncomfortable hard loungers by the gym pool whilst children were having swimming lessons overlooked by the gym machines and other work out rooms – not a retreat !! Not as advertised. We felt totally misled

It’s a gym with a treatment room and ‘tucked away’ means small and in the back !!

The changing rooms were poky and soaking wet – the slippers they gave us were drenched instantly.

No one seemed to be on reception and we ended up hanging around waiting for someone to appear a lot.

The massages were good – but they were so disorganised that they started us late but still finished on time

The ‘gifts’ / goody bag for mum – was free samples that you’d get at a boots counter.

My daughter was very embarrassed too and upset as this was her gift to me. Shame on whom ever wrote such misleading dialogue for the advertising
