Google Bad Review 1:  I chose to use Rare Pink for a custom engagement ring after reading only positive reviews online at the end of last year. I had been planning on having a ring made for a long time and in my opinion choosing Rare Pink to carry out the digital design and manufacture was one of the worst decisions I have ever made.

During my dealings with Rare Pink the company represented nothing but incompetence and emotional strain, from their inability to transfer simple sketches to 3D to the multiple attempts it took to produce a ring which wasn’t even finished to any form of decent standard. Communication was poor, the UK director was rude and lacking in any form of empathy or social graces and their base jewellers skill was horrendous even to the point where high street jewellers advised sending the ring back!

The whole process of having the ring manufactured was fraught with poor communication especially after the initial down payment had been made to secure the main centre diamond for the ring.

The initial design was not followed and the company designed a ring that didn't resemble the initial requirement. When the final Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawing was produced all of the alterations requested were deemed too small to be altered in CAD, I was informed that the alterations would happen in the setting stage of manufacture. This never happened.

Upon receipt of the ring, the following problems with the manufacture were highlighted;
– Bad casting leading to large amounts of porosity visible as black pot marks all over the band.
– Poor rhodium plating with yellowing spots around the band.
– Poor polishing, the ring had large areas of a wrinkled finish instead of being smooth.
– Not resembling the original design.
– Lots of scratches all over the band.

Rare Pink agreed the quality was incredibly poor due to the high volume of orders received. This resulted in rings being rushed on the assumption that customers would not be dis-concerning enough to notice any manufacturing errors. Much to our dismay Rare Pink advised that a new ring would have to be manufactured which would be with us within a fortnight as the defects were too severe to be rectified.

Remanufacturing process took 5 weeks.

Informed that to offset the “trials and tribulations which would make a good story” Nikolay offered a 1% refund. It was refused.

When expressing my desire to leave a truthful account of my experiences as feedback I received a veiled threatening reply.

The second ring arrived damaged and was returned again to Rare Pink.

I was informed that they were using Jason, their most skilled freelance jeweller to complete the the ring but he informed me that they had taken the ring from his care and returned it to their usual lower quality craftsmen.

I was informed by Nikolay that the ring had been remanufactured in platinum when it had been produced in our required material gold, this caused considerable confusion.

Ring received back for the 3rd time with main stone set very wonky.

Speaking to Sean I was informed that this is deemed acceptable and even Tiffany sell wonky rings, which I struggle to believe. He then proceeded to advise that they didn’t have any confidence in their ability to ensure the stone was set straight if the ring was returned for the 4th time.

In order to rectify issues with the ring and after a wait totalling almost 6 months from initial contact I had to instigate the services of Trading Standards to ensure the ring was finished with reasonable care and skill.

I did receive a reimbursement from Rare Pink however this was only after Trading Standards became involved and was the sum total of compensation and all consequential losses I sustained from having to take the ring to a third party to have it finished to a reasonable level.

In summary I would never use the services of Rare Pink again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

The only saving grace was my decision to have the ring remanufactured by a freelance Hatton Garden jeweller who finished the ring to a very high standard with no input from Rare Pink.

Google Reviewer 2, Name (Bad Review):  Luqman Haydar

Google Bad Review (2):  On consultation and placing my order I was initially ok with the service received. However following an issue post sale where I had to return the ring (due to the signature gemstone not being visibile) I came to find that internally the sales consultant I had was bad mouthing me behind my back calling me pushy, aggressive and implying I was lying.

Furthermore, it took 3 weeks to simply get my ring cleaned by them after having to send it back after first receiving it.

Given the ingenuiness of the staff that I have witnessed and the quality concern straight from receiving the engagement ring, I would not reccomend buying from Taylor & Hart.
