We recently moved from Spain to the UK. In Spain we had a representative come round and give us a quote for all the items we were taking, later i received a quote and it was more than i had expected but we went with it anyway after reading reviews on the company. Moving day came and they loaded most of our boxes and informed me that they would have to come back as the van wasn't big enough, then after the second trip i got another quote saying that i had gone over the volume quoted for, and would have to pay extra, yet we had added nothing more to our stuff than we were quoted for. We arrive in the UK, arrange for our items to be delivered to a container as we had no where to live, I was told that they couldn't deliver my items for 2 weeks, well that was fine until they told me that i have to pay for the 2 weeks storage until they can deliver, and when the van turned up (over 3 hours late, because apparently the person who had the van the day before had not unloaded it)
the first thing the driver says is, i'm afraid some of your items have not made it in good condition!
2 of our computer chairs had been broken, and all 3 of them were absolutely dirty. While they were unloading they kept checking the labels, eventually i found out that when they loaded the van, they were missing one of the codes to scan, now at the beginning in Spain i was told that they scan the boxes on the van and then scan them off so that nothing goes missing…..
After reporting the broken chairs immediately, they unloaded and left. The next day, I returned with my list of boxes that i had done, and found that 1 was missing, so i contacted Matthew james and they said they would look into it. After 7 days they returned to say, that because i didn't take out extra insurance (which i was informed in a call it was only if i had very expensive items in my boxes) I didn't have cover for the broken chairs and the missing box. They have liability insurance that covers them for such things and yet they won't use it to replace the items that they clearly broke and the missing box.
I would never use them again, and would never recommend them to ANYONE !

Google Bad Review (2):  Called on 6/11/20 and spoke with Chris. He booked a surveyor to come around on Thursday and give us a quote.
When Joe arrived to carry out his survey, he was unable to provide me with a price/cost and said that Chris from the office would call me back on Monday. I asked Joe various questions about the company (as seen on public records), and insurance, which he was unable to comment on. Today is 29/11 and we are still waiting to hear from Chris… any day now…

FB Last Post Text:  Keeping the baby occupied! When you are trying to pack, you need an extra hours peace to get those last few boxes ready, it’s the simple things that can occupy the baby! We have never tried this before, but as it was our own move we thought we’d give it a go. This is Rowan James De-Machen who will be the 4th generation at Matthew James if he decides to join the Removals industry. We have never known a baby so happy and so quiet throughout the packing service! It looks as though he’s even having a go at packing the toys in the corner of the box.
