Google Bad Review 1:  Colouring

Have visited the salon twice now for hair colour. The first time my hairline was missed. Nobody checked all greys were covered before taking payment so I had to point out myself. Was offered to have the hairline re coloured that day or to return another day but after spending 2 plus hours in the salon already, I didn’t want to do that so I did it myself back at home a few days later. I work long hours so don’t really have the time to come back. I was charged £45 which was £5 more than the price I was quoted on the phone and nothing was taken off for the error. I didn’t make a fuss as I needed to be somewhere.

Gave the salon another try last week and I wish I had not. I had to point out a number of areas around the hairline that were missed. They left me for the colour to develop but didn’t tell me how long I needed to sit. I appreciate language may have been a barrier here but he could have pointed to a clock/watch or ask his colleagues to tell me.

No one checked the colour was developing through my wait and no one checked before washing my hair that the colour was ready to be washed. The hair washing was poor and I could feel colour still on my scalp. The conditioner was barely left on for seconds and when washed out, the back of my hairline was slimy. The colour on my face was not checked or cleaned like other salons. The same happened on my first visit. I did raise numerous times that my hair is stubborn taking colour but it was ignored.

After drying my hair the hair dresser walked away I guess to show he’s finished and I should pay! I looked in the mirror and saw my roots were not covered everywhere! A smiley girl came over asking if I was happy and I said no, have a look yourself at my roots. Another lady whisked me promptly to the basin and started to wet my hair without asking or telling me what she is doing. I asked her to stop and explain. She wanted to put a toner in. I was not happy at this short cut that is not permanent. I didn’t want it but they insisted it is the solution. The young man was given instructions of what to do and put in the toner. He rinsed it out in a couple of minutes and then redid it again leaving it a few minutes this time. He rinsed the toner and put a mask in and washed it straight out not even leaving it for 30 seconds. He slightly dried it.

The hairline was very slightly better but not fully covered. The smiley girl made me pay in full and said ‘I won’t charge you for the toner’ the cheek, I didn’t even want the toner. She would not take any money off for their errors.

When I went home by partner checked my hair and could see the roots were not covered all through my head. The only purpose of the appt was to colour my grey roots ready for the festive period so I was annoyed to say the least! See photo attached as an example.

I called the salon to provide my feedback and ask for a refund so I can go elsewhere and was told by the manager that they won’t give me one as it ‘costs them money’ to do the colour etc. I was polite in my approach and respectful even though I was fuming. I do appreciate the salon overheads but the attitude is so wrong here.

The manager did offer for me to come back in for him to fix it within a week but I have lost all trust in the salon’s competence and told him the same. He was a bit defensive. I am appalled they won’t give me a refund. I am unsure if they know what they are doing! To charge for a service that has not been fulfilled due to a lack of competence is disgraceful. Sadly, they’ve lost a potentially loyal,local customer who would have happily paid in full every 6-7 weeks for the root tint done well and given a tip on top! This salon is maybe ok for a wash and blow dry but I wouldn’t trust them with much more. Don’t go to this salon if you want rapport, frills (magazines, drinks etc). It’s a box standard minimum service and communication type of place and you have to take the lead to check everything as they don’t seem thorough or seem to care about doing a good job. The prices don’t reflect the service or quality either.
