Google Bad Review 1:  I have just left the Bromley branch VERY DiSAPPOINTED!

Let me start by saying I never shop in River Island! However a week ago I found a pair of shoes which were perfect to wear to dinner for my birthday. Much to my disappointment these shoes were a death trap slipping on every surface that I stepped on I spent the whole evening walking like a penguin just to avoid death!

So I rightfully decided to return the the shoes since they were un usable! I entered the Bromley branch shortly after collecting my son from school joined the line and waited my turn to be served. Whilst waiting two members of staff were behind us me and my 10 year old son talking about “a girl being forced into a bathroom and her head stuck down a toilet” automatically I assumed that these were just young students employees being unprofessional.

Moving on it was my turn to be served so unexplained my issue and the young lady proceeded to call her manager the (store manager) much to my surprise it was one of the two ladies that had been having the inappropriate conversation behind us GREAT.

She out right refused to refund me because they had been worn not considering the fact that they were un wearable. She then decided to make statements such as “they should have been tried on in store” a very condescending comment as if to say it was a policy to try everything on before you buy! She then said that “if it’s just my pair of shoes with this issue and not the rest then it’s not a problem of river islands”

So before I even have a chance to speak to customer service she has made a statement on the company’s position regarding this case.

She then went on to confirm that she has authority to refund the item should she ‘personally’ want to and in the circumstance she did not want to! – which automatically confirms that she can make a decision based on who the customer is without dealing with all customers the same with complete fairness and integrity.

Following the experience received by this unqualified unprofessional Store Manager I began questioning whether her decision was based on me being a 31 year old mixed race man in my gym tracksuit with my 10 year old mixed race son! Was I profiled? Or was this just terrible customer service?

Lastly I can only identify the employee as the store manager as she claimed that she did not need to provide me with her name due to GDPR (which may I confirm for this individual providing your name is not covered by GDPR)

Google Bad Review (2):  (Translated by Google) My daughter turned years ago a week ago and they gave her a dress from this store. Unfortunately it was big but she loves it and wants to use it. It should be noted that not even the good morning told me when I entered. I went to ask for a change of size and they told me that “their return policies had changed just yesterday”. I explained that it had been a gift, that I just wanted a smaller size and did not even bother to check the dress to verify that it was in perfect condition, even with the label on it that has the name of the store. Now I have to put it in a suitcase and pray that next summer will not be too small for my daughter. What a disappointment he is going to have! They should improve customer service.

Mi hija cumplió años hace una semana y le regalaron un vestido de esta tienda. Lamentablemente le quedó grande pero a ella le encanta y lo quiere usar. Cabe destacar que ni los buenos días me dijeron cuando entré. Fui a pedir un cambio de talla y me dijeron que “sus políticas de devoliciones habían cambiado justo ayer”. Le expliqué que había sido un regalo, que sólo quería una talla más pequeña y ni siquiera se molestaron por revisar el vestido para verificar que estaba en perfectas condiciones, hasta con la etiqueta puesta que tiene el nombre de la tienda. Ahora me toca meterlo en una maleta y rezar para que el próximo verano no vaya a ser muy pequeño para mi hija. Que decepción va a tener! Deben mejorar la atención al cliente.

Google Bad Review 1:  I really like the Zara brand but in the past month I've been disappointed in their products. I've been buying Zara products for ages but only since I started buying from this branch my satisfaction level has dropped. In the last 2 weeks I returned 2 items because they were faulty and even after inspecting my item very thouroughly in the store, when I got home I realised some inside tags are cut, kinda like someone wore the item , cut the tag and then returned the item. I added some photos so you can understand what I mean. I literally bought the item 2 hours ago. You can see the receipt is for exchanging the product because the other one had ripped pockets.

Google Bad Review (2):  AWFUL service. I just waited in the refunds and exchanges queue for 45 minutes! If I could give less than 1 star I would. A 45 minute wait is unacceptable, they took 34minutes to serve one person and they had only 2 staff and three empty tills. They didn't even put more people on tills! These people are ridiculous and don't care about customers at all.
