Google Bad Review: After actually pinning the required hemline whilst the curtains were hung in front of the guy who collected them and marking on the reverse with a pen, they seemingly went ahead and used this pin point as the measurement to CUT the excess fabric BEFORE bothering to add whatever seam allowance they use. I know this as they have come back and they are too short by exactly the same amount as the turned up hem. I may as well have put the several hundred pounds charge towards a new pair of bespoke curtains. They did a decent job splitting the two panels in half as requested and the actual hand sewing itself is perfectly fine. BUT to not add a hem allowance is amateur, even if someone was unsure, why would you not check with the client if they had (for some bizarre reason) already added a hem allowance and not specified what that was . I just don’t understand how that can happen? Now I’m just undoing the hem and leaving them unfinished so at least they don’t look ridiculously ill fitting. Also after years of having interior and fashion items altered I have never known any tailor to not return the cut off excess fabric, especially given it was the equivalent of a few square meters of expensive silk. So I wouldn’t recommend this business for larger / luxury / curtain alterations and even if you send something simple to them, I advise you give *fool proof instructions and insist on checking in with whoever is doing the actual work to verify every detail. Lesson learned.
