Google Bad Review 1: Very disappointed with my facial. I have struggled with acne and congested skin for a very long time and after hearing the great reviews I decided to try a facial at Kate Kerr.
I had a consultation with the therapist; she asked me to list the products I currently used but didn't offer any advice on any of them and seemed to only be asking the questions for the sake of it- she didn't take any of this information into account when giving me advice. Why bother doing a consultation if you don't use this information to inform the advice you are giving?
During the facial she kept using jargon language; mitosis this, fibroblast that- some people might be interested in this but it just seemed like a script the therapist had learned. It was difficult to get a question in but when I did she didn't seem to be able to explain it- if you can't explain things in simple terms, it usually means you don't understand it.
At one point during the facial she asked if I had ever thought about advanced skin care treatments like botox. I'm 28 so I was pretty shocked to hear her say this to me and this wasn't something that I had indicated that I was interested in during my consultation.
Throughout the facial she kept talking about products from this skin care line- she just assumed that I was going to go ahead and use this skin care that they sell that has a pretty steep price tag. This was quite frustrating as I felt she was trying to sell me products while doing my facial, rather than giving me advice I could use.
Nearing the end of my facial she asked what my budget for buying products was today; she advised that the products she would recommend for me would be abut £450! She advised that if I used these products, I would not be able to use any other products with them in case of reactions- so either I had to buy them all or not bother. I've done some research around this skin care line she recommended and I can't find anyone else recommending this all or nothing approach.
When I said this was way out of my budget she made me feel quite uncomfortable. When I asked if she could make recommendations about a more budget friendly option, she did, but not after repeatedly stating that this wasn't the best option and this wouldn't change my skin.
This was quite an uncomfortable experience and I would not recommend. I am frustrated that after paying £145 for a facial I had to sit through an hour of a sales pitch, rather than advice on how I could look after my skin.
