Google Reviewer 1, Name (Bad Review): Zara Mccarthy
Google Bad Review 1: I would not recommend this vets to anyone, I’m absolutely appalled by the lack of care and inadequate nature of this practice. This ranged from not listening and brushing off my genuine concerns about my cat to promising to call me back when things took at turn for the worse and failing to do so. I brought my cat to Hill park vets four times in the past 4 weeks. The main reason I picked Hill park was because of the reasonable consultation price, but don’t be fooled, you get what you pay for if you want a proper diagnosis then please spend that little extra save yourself the time, money and heartache in the long run. Initially my cat went into this vets with a sore eye that was weeping, something the vet assured me was easily treated with drops. A few days later I was still very unhappy with his temperament on top of the eye seemingly becoming worse rather than better. I returned again and was told that my cats eye was fine and that I would see improvement soon and then simply put the total change in behaviour down to the weather and being run down. Over the coming days my cat went from 4.9kg to 4.1kg, I was so concerned so I booked another appointment with Hill park. I spoke of the dramatic weight-loss , lack of appetite, unwillingness to go outside which was drastically unusual behaviour for him. I wanted the vet to check him over however after a not even ten minutes the vet was back out again saying my cat was fine and it was just the hot weather, I was very frustrated but had now paid £300 in total for appointments and medicine and had faith in the vet knowing best so reassured I did not argue with this diagnosis. In the past few days my cat had deteriorated even further, he is unrecognisable to the cat he was just a few weeks ago so much so he was literally dying in front of our eyes. It was so hard to watch him struggle to get up and we had noticed he had stopped eating and drinking completely, which we consequently resulted to syringe feeding him. I took him back for the fourth time and this time insisted that this more than just being ‘under the weather' and I wanted the vet to look deeper into what was clearly causing him so much discomfort/pain. Finally they suggested a blood test to check for underlying problems. we left him at the vets but got a call to say that he needed sedation for the blood test. I was very confused as normally this is not necessary because e of his docile nature and in the circumstances he was so weak he wouldn’t be able to lift a paw. I was then told that he had ‘seen a dog' and this was the reason. Although I understand there are a variety of animals in the practice, the fact that this extra stress had been allowed to happen and then I paid £40 more because of this is unacceptable. The vet said that the bloods came back totally normal and there was nothing they could do other than top up his fluids. 4 weeks later and we were no further to finding the cause of my cats suffering. We got to a point where my cat cannot stand up on its own barely wobbling two steps before collapsing of exhaustion. after phoning yesterday and explaining the tragic state my poor cat found himself in the vet promised me that they would phone and organise an IV as we want to ensure we try everything to help him. when I had no call I phoned to check that the vet had not forgotten and was told that I would get the call. I was yet again let down when no call came. I was so disappointed by the unreliability and unprofessionalism that I have experienced throughout my cats treatment at Hill park vets. Last night we took him to an emergency vets and the immediately recognised that my cat was not going to make it overnight so we came to the decision to have him put to sleep. He did comment that it was clear that my cat had been suffering quite sometime and I can’t help but think that if we had taken him here sooner then we could have saved him the days of extra unnecessary suffering.
