Google Bad Review 1: I called this clinic as my presbyopia is getting bad and was interested in varifoclal contacts, when I initially called and booked in I was quoted around £60 for a consultation which was fine, I attended and told Charles my situation and I had been to Belgium and had tests in December for suitability for implants therapy and I was ok for that, however having seen Dr Laurence Whiteman in the UK for a second opinion he advised whilst suitable I ought to wait for my eyes to get a lil worse first
So in spite of having seen 2 eye surgeons in 2 months Charles then told me I would need all the same tests AGAIN and this would be around £300 so like a fool I agreed, tests done I was told I had dry eyes and Blepharisitis kind of dry eyelid skin which would need a treatment (not included of course) then I was made aware for my lenses to work and be comfy I needed to do a lot of stuff at home which you guessed it required me buying stuff from them, an eye mask thing and eye massager some drops and the dearest omega 3 capsules on the planet (3 months supply) all ready and waiting in a neat little bag at reception I opted to only take a months omegas and my bill ?? Just shy of £600
Also I told him I wear Ciba Dailies and have for 15 years only to be told oh no no we don’t recommend them we recommend Acuvue (is this because your an Acueview centre of excellence or is it why U are ?)
Also I was told to get sunglasses to protect my eyes and told Oakley’s are OK but Maury Jim are the best in fact its all we stock ! What a shock
I left and was asked to come back for fittings and trial lenses, after being told OrthoK was best option (£1650) for first year
Was also told and advised we would try many options and methods to “blend” my lenses and vision so imagine my surprise when I attended a few days later to be seen by Charles daughter who had …wait for it 2 different sets of lenses fro me to try one a high and one a medium varifocal Acuvue lens same strength for each eye in spite of all the baloney I had been told about blending for short sight using my non dominant eye blah blah making the whole process sound so complicated.
Then to boot I was given wait for it ONE days lanes to go away and trial whilst they would kindly order me a 5 day trial and 1 or 3 months lenses (bare in mind I am being asked to order something I have not yet trialed. So I asked only that the trial lenses be ordered so I may actually decide if I get on with them
Almost 3 weeks later not a call or mail to come get my lenses (which at £64 a month) are off the planet expensive
I have ordered my own lenses based on the prescription I received but at £600 it’s got to be the most expensive script ever
I am in no way questioning the medical expertise of Charles but suffice to say if he is half as good at eye care as he is at selling things to people who are desperate for good eyesight your eyesight will surely be in good hands (but maybe not your wallets)
I felt very very cheated and taken advantage of and let down

I went for a routine examination, on the first impression Charles seemed warm and caring. I paid for a 130 pounds of examination very pricey but again i read good reviews so i thought it would worth it. I started to have mixed feelings when Charles was trying to sell to me a dry eye test around 300 pounds. During the examination, I went to several tests “machine” and I felt that his feedback was focused on building up some concerns and what he can sell about to fix it. Bare in mind that i don't wear glasses and didn't go there for any eye pain reason but just for a routine check. I really felt that this practician was really pushy onto selling and building up concerns to “make” the sale. I wouldn't go back there and i wouldn't recommend my entourage to go there. Following to this, I went to another ophtamologist that performed a thorough examination and concluded that my eyes were fine and no need to be worried.
