Google Bad Review 1:  Booked AG's Restaurant in this hotel for my mother's 80th birthday celebration. This is a 5 star hotel so I expected that the food would also be of a comparable standard. It was not! The starters were ok but nothing exceptional. The main course was frankly shocking. We could not believe that any Chef, let alone a Chef in a so called 5 star hotel, could have put this quality of food on a plate to serve to paying customers. I ordered sea bass which was over cooked and therefore dry. It was missing two of the 5 elements on the menu – no Herb quinoa and no samphire? I asked the waiter if I had been served the right dish, it was swiftly taken away to be re-done. I had to wait while the rest of the family tried to eat their food. I say try, as the roast beef dinner was, without doubt, the worst that anyone of the 6 family members at the table had ever been served, and they've had a lot of roast dinner! The whole meal was barely luke warm, the beef was tough, even though served very rare, and full of sinew so couldn't be cut or chewed easily. The roast potatoes had clearly been sitting around for hours. They were so dry that when you were eventually able to cut into them, the inside of the potato separated from the outer dry skin. It was quite unbelievable. The vegetables were sloppy and bland in favour. The only positive was the gravy and you needed plenty of it to moisten the potatoes. We complained and they offered to cook the meals again but as we had waited 45 minutes for the main course to arrive after the first course, we couldn't risk it. Had we been a smaller group we would have got up and left but it was already 4pm and finding a table elsewhere for 7 people would have been a challenge. The service was very good and the principal waiter tried to resolve the situation as best he could but he had been badly let down by the Chef. We were told that the Head Chef doesn't work on a Sunday!! So, I guess the moral of the story is that you take a risk eating at this restaurant on a Sunday! We had asked the waiter to let the hotel manager know but he didn't bother to come and talk to us. The bill was adjusted to include a discount but does not make up for ruining my mothers' family birthday meal. There are so many other places we could have chosen for a celebration lunch and we wish we had. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
