Google Bad Review 1: Horrible experience
I trusted reviews to take my cat Thunder here as it was local to me. Thunder was very poorly and I trusted that they could see to him but was being completely misled as he was far worst than they led me to believe. I paid £300 for 3 hours for them to just take Thunder's blood and give him oxygen. they even took Thunder away before I could even say goodbye. Not once was the receptionist Melanie (I think her name was) sympathetic but more interested in securing the deposit money with no advice given whether my cat is healthy enough or if it was worth him going through with surgery at an old age. As I loved Thunder so much, I paid with the hopes he would be looked after. I then had advice from family members that I was completely ripped off and that costs would only rise as operations especially when uninsured can rapidly increase out to the thousands, and also because he was 16 years old, advice should have been given by the vet Phil to consider options best for Thunder's health at his age which was not once mentioned in consultation, but only price for operation.
My mum called to let them know that we would like to opt for euthanasia and the receptionist said they would need to speak to myself as I had booked him in. I then received a call back from Melanie, and she got straight to the point and said that they need me to come in and sign papers for Thunder. Not once did she come across in any way to reassure me that my cat would be ok, as she new he was beyond help and was clearly frustrated that they would not be making as much money from me as they hoped which was quoted up to £1000 with the potential to go up. I then made the decision to take Thunder out as I was being charged £90 if I opted to get him put down even though I had already paid £300, and as a part-time student could not afford the expense. I then took him where he had been previously seen as a matter of urgency to PDSA pet hospital, as i new WE both would have much better sympathy and attentive care. I am extremely upset with the customer service and lack of empathy given at the appointment I had today. I would never recommend anybody who has a very poorly pet to use this vet as a first option as my experience was unbelievably upsetting and I feel so bad that Thunder had been left here with the treatment I received, I could only imagine how he was treated.
