FB Last Post Text: I am going through some big stuff atm. I was having severe pain during my period “pelvic pain’ on the right side. I went to the GP who diagnosed a UTI. And prescribed antibiotics. I’ve not taken antibiotics in over 30 years. I was not going to start now. So I increased my water intake, took some cranberry supplements and started eating clean. I felt fine until the next bleed. Same thing. Pelvic pain on the right side. I went back to the GP who said the lab results came back …and it was not a UTI (good thing I did not take the antibiotics) She recommended a blood test and a smear test. Blood test came back with an elevated CA125 and low iron. My bleeds have been heavier so this made sense. The CA125 caused a panic. This is a protein marker for ovarian cancer. I was referred urgently to a gynaecologist and to have a ultrasound. Smear came back positive for HPV so I had a colposcopy and 2 biopsies. The results came back and have some abnormal cells but no concerns and follow up colposcopy in a year. The ultrasound said that I had an endometrioma on my right ovary and a blood clot or polyp in my uterus and the gynaecologist said that the reason for the elevated CA125 was the endometriosis. I’ve never had endometriosis but an very aware of what it does as my sister struggles with it. I was asked to have a repeat blood test and ultrasound. The repeat blood test showed my CA125 was rising and the repeat ultrasound showed no endometrioma on my right ovary. But a polyp in my uterus (not sure what happened to the endometrioma) So again an urgent referral to a gynaecologist within 2 weeks. Have not heard from the hospital yet and it’s been 4 weeks. The pain continues during my cycle and I am trying to stay calm and do everything I can think of including an abdominal massage with Charlene @thevillagetherapies I should be referred for a hysteroscopy next to remove the polyp and they will take biopsies again. So I look after myself, rest, try and decrease my stress, eat well, hydrate, sleep. I plan quiet days at the start of my cycle. I feel that this is something that is not talked about enough and too many women in my situation suffer in silence. Let's start the conversation. We need to listen to our bodies. See more
