Google Bad Review 1: I came thinking here is a great heritage bar with service to match, how wrong I was.
To start with I was asked to wait in the lobby when my wife and I arrived at 5.30pm!
I waited patiently for 10 minutes as I watched people walk in and be seated at the bar or get a table themselves. So we went in after asking someone else more friendly who sat us at the bar. We were promised a table as soon as one became available but had others come and get seated before us so I thought let me ask the barman to get us a table who told the man in charge. He came and told us he knows we are waiting, almost annoyed at how we could question their fairness.
Over an hour goes past and other people are just getting a superior service so I decided to leave. As we leave the guy in charge cheekily says sorry about the table situation. Punishment for asking for a table more than once?
From what I’ve seen it’s a free for all lacking in fairness.

Google Bad Review (2): Didn't stay just had lunch
The food was awful weird combination. Very expensive even though we were on a special lunch deal. Petite fours were 3 grapes covered in chocolate. Horsedeuves a squashed half sausage roll you could taste the fat that it was cooked in. Garden scruffy. Don't know when they got a Michelin star must have been in the past!! Certainly not recent. Whoever is there in charge of food should visit Hambleton hall there you are talking quality. So have to say Don't go to the Goring
