Google Bad Review 1: This USED to be our favourite pub in Chislehurst. It has recently become over crowded with nowhere to park as car park is always full. The food is below standard now and they ask top price for this. Drinks are more expensive than any pub in Chislehurst. I was charged over £16 for a beer and a G & T. We had very average meal here a couple of months ago, on a Sunday which was extremely busy. There were 5 of us and no one was happy with the food or the bill when it turned up for £350. Foolishly I put this down to it being a Sunday and being very busy so decided to go back. Food this time was worse than the .last time and it was not even busy. We did not eat our meal , when our plates where picked up with food untouched the lady did not even ask if there was a problem, just rushed off. Never again.

Google Bad Review (2): This is a favourite haunt of my parents, and I have always had a very pleasant experience here. However, recently, my parents, who are in their mid eighties, went to lunch here, taking a neighbour of theirs who is over 90 years old, and they found that the restaurant staff had stopped wearing masks. Their neighbour had been too scared to go out for months, and this was her first outing.
Leaving google reviews is not something I normally do, so I rang up to speak to the management. When I explained to her what I had rung to complain about, I told her a shocking fact that I learnt – that someone who is over 75 years of age is over 10,000 times more likely to die of Covid19, than someone who is age 15. I tried to get her to understand that with this policy they are putting people lives in danger. She told me that they are following Youngs guidelines and are not breaking the law. I tried to appeal to their conscience, saying that I understand that they are following the regulations – but why don't they care? – she just kept repeating that they are in accordance with the government guidelines.
She also told me that they perform a daily health check on all staff – however, as Covid19 has an incubation period of between 5 and 12 days, this is unfortunately next to useless.
She said that the customers don't have to wear masks, but I replied that they are not carrying plates of food between the tables, and therefore won't be breathing on the food. She replied that the staff don't breathe on the food. But of course, we all have to breathe, and tiny particulates leave our noses and mouths when this happens, we can't control that.
I spoke softly and politely throughout, and she got very irate. She said that if my parents are that ‘scared' they should go somewhere else. The conversation ended by me saying that I just wanted them to understand that with this policy they are putting people's lives in danger – and that they would be losing our business, and she said ‘that's fine by me'.
I don't know if people just don't understand the science, (a lot of the govenment information has certainly been very confusing).
Alternatively, it is perhaps that they don't have elderly relatives themselves, and therefore don't care. Or perhaps they just think that we should keep elderly people from going out and stuck safe at home.
Either way, how sad.
