Google Bad Review (2): I had the worst experience purchasing an apartment using Taylor Rose's service.

It has now been almost two months since completion, and through enquiring about obtaining freeholder permission for some of the renovation works I plan on doing at the flat, I have just found out that Taylor Rose didn't serve notice of transfer upon the freeholder. I am now trying to contact the solicitors who were involved in the purchase (Uzma Malik, Selina Ozdemir) by phone and email, and thus far have received no response from them.

Besides this, the cost of coveyancing and dealing with the remortgaging of another property came out over £2000 more expensive than the quote, excluding the unforeseen expenses! Costs that were never mentioned in the quote (e.g. stationery) was added to the bill at the end, which I think if it had been a standard cost, should have been in the quote right from the beginning. They also added “optional charges” that were not labeled optional on the invoice, such as Slothmove and Online Will Voucher, neither were services I had requested and were also not in the quote. I questioned these, and was only told then that they were optional charges, and they were removed, but for me if the firm was working with any integrity, they should not have been on the invoice in the first place. Another example is the ID check, which was £10 in the quote and on the invoice it was £45. I had to be incredibly vigilant whilst looking through the invoices, but it was still over £2000 what had been quoted. In the interest of completing on time (the final invoice was sent to me with less than a week to completion so I had no time to contest the rest of the discrepancies), I paid it.

On top of not doing the complete job, and overcharging beyond what was quoted, they also kept losing important post and requesting documents to be re-sent to them, that is, until I sent them proof of signed delivery from Royal Mail, and magically they would then find the documents.

I don't know how they have so many 5 star reviews on google, but as someone else has mentioned in previous reviews that perhaps they are not genuine reviews.

The stress of dealing with them is not worth the trouble, plus they are a lot more expensive than many other solicitors. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
