Google Bad Review 1: I find it to be very expensive; £24.99 for a digital passport photo.
Google Reviewer 2, Name (Bad Review): Rob Lone
Google Bad Review (2): I had a batch scan of rare archive photographs done in late January. One photograph had been scanned with a little blob of red wax. I asked if I could have a free rescan and they said no, but made an offer “as a gesture we can offer you the scan for £6.99 + vat which is more than 50% discount” (there was no indication of an expiration date on this). I thought about the offer and waited to see if my contact with provide more new photographs, so that I could warrant a new batch, but months passed and I felt this wasn't going to happen.
On Monday I walked into the store and handed the photo to the shop – I explained the offer I had been given to the clerk, she wrote down the order, there was no confusion, no mis-understanding, there were no yellow or red flags – about having to double check. She was empathetic to my situation. Later that day I received an email from the person who had given the offer initially and she was revoking it because of expired time. I was further offended in the way the email was worded as if I was confused – trying to rewrite history about how there was an uncertainty and need to double check. I was too angry to properly express my annoyance but I told them to process the order and that they were not congruent with what they said and offered and in both interactions there was never an indication of expired time. I was also told that I would be given the scan on Wednesday evening.
On Wednesday I was told that the photograph has been scanned in and was ready to collect, and that a transfer would then occur after payment.
Thursday I went back to the store to collect and pay for the scan, as well make a formal complaint in person. I had started to write a response on Monday to this email about being confused – but I held back – and decided to email myself the email I had written so as I could at least infer to my exact feelings on the situation. The clerk I had met the other day – smirked at me when I stood up for myself – offering a now take it or leave it attitude. I said please can you get the manager, someone who wants to take responsibility. The manager came upstairs, wanted to wander over to the terminal to bring up the email they had written. I expressed as calmly as possible the facts – how I had been given an offer with no expiry terms mentioned, how I had come into the store and given the asset with no incident. She wanted to conform to her email as a new agreement and I told her – this wouldn't stand up in a small claim court. She didn't like my response and soon after shoved the asset back into my hands – she tried to convince me this was a new photo and I corrected her and told her, no its the same photo, from the same batch. She then told me the asset hadn't been scanned in and I corrected her again saying I was told that it had been and I was here specifically to collect it. She then walked away and said she will wetransfer the file to me and she can not spend anymore time with the case. The term I would use to express how she handed back the asset to me is border-line assault. I was stunned and stood there for a second, at the pack of lies, manipulation tactics and the attitude I had received over them trying to wangle their way out of saving 10 pounds. In a way I had to confront 3 different people to discuss that order. At the end of the day I was sent the file for free, “as promised” – it only took a few days of aggravation and a border-line assault and risk of damaging a rare archive artefact that doesn't belong to me.
