Google Bad Review:  From the moment my boyfriend and I arrived we felt our custom was not wanted. We asked if food was still being served (it was not an unreasonable hour but it was a Sunday) and the reply from the manager was, “Only if you’re quick.” We agreed, somewhat shocked by this response, and found out quickly that there was still half an hour before they stopped serving. Finding our own table, a waiter rushed over within a minute or two to take our order. We weren’t at all ready and the unconventional menu was not explained. We chose our food before a drink order had been taken and when we asked for a taster of a beer it given begrudgingly without any chat about the beer or indeed anything else.
We sat back at our table after getting a couple of beers and the food came promptly which was good. It felt as though it had been hurried out a little carelessly and although it was quite tasty we felt it was overpriced considering the quality and service. When we’d finished, a waitress arrived to clean up and asked if we wanted any dessert. We declined, saying that we were really full and she said that if we needed anything else just to ask; shockingly, this very usual, friendly response seemed like excellent service against the backdrop of the shirty reception we’d had from the start.
Before we’d finished our beers and less than half an hour after we’d walked in, the bill was brought and dropped unceremoniously on the table. As if this wasn’t a clear enough indication that we were being asked to leave, the manger who’d dropped it off said, “We’re locking up shortly, guys.” After we’d paid and we’re getting up to leave, we noticed that that party of 8 who’d been there since before we arrived were only just having the bill brought to them. Unsurprisingly (by this point) there were no goodbyes or thankyous from any of the staff.
I’m a local resident and this was my second visit but I won’t be returning after this evening’s poor experience. I would have rather been told to go home and cook my own dinner than pay a pound a minute to feel like an unwanted tourist less than a mile from my house.
