Google Bad Review 1:  Update 19th March: Ten Dental is spamming me with text messages and emails to book my next appointment, with STILL no contact from a customer service rep to resolve my complaint months later. LOL. Remove me from your money-making list.

Let me preface this by saying I was a paying patient for 5 years at Trinity Road and this is for Ten Dental Balham:

– What is normally a 30 minute procedure was done in 20 minutes. Rochelle, the hygienist, rushed through the service.

– The cleaning was done out of order, with polishing done before scaling. Scaling was done hastily and with poor attention to detail. Every hygiene appointment I have had with a dentist in 20 years yielded better results.

– Not only did the hygienist not have my file, she made no effort to check if my file was on hand in the first place and when I inquired about it, brushed it off as unimportant.

– When the cleaning was finished, the hygienist did not offer a mirror and did not remove the UV glasses or bib. Simply left me as was on the table and went “Finished.”

– Upon raising this to Ten Dental and requesting to have my £65 cleaning redone, have not had a phone call or an email back.

Google Bad Review (2):  This place is utterly infuriating. A few of the dentists are brilliant, and after a few years I have finally found a brilliant one I like there – however it has been very hit and miss. I have found the emergency dentists to be poor, the hygienists didn’t really impress and the receptionists are not really very experienced / on it.

For instance, I have had to have a front filling the emergency dentist did replaced three times as the quality was not up to scratch and it kept falling off. In the end I got it replaced in Bosnia of all places and it’s outlived the Ten Dentals ones.

At the same time, I have been going through the process of a smile redesign. Before embarking on this, I have asked several times to see some projections of costs – and have been paying and coming for consultation after consultation. Perhaps because this has been a protracted process, the practice still can’t get all the proposed treatment quotes together – and it’s like speaking to a brick wall in explaining – I just want a full breakdown of proposed works – not just what I am getting done next week. This is a result of the dentists not being in every day – they are transient, so you have to wait until your dentist is in for reception to talk to them, and by that time, they’ve forgotten what they are meant to be asking.

It appears they don’t really communicate with each other well. I was booked in to see the wrong orthodontist at the practice, which was a pointless exercise as he had no idea why I was seeing him and what the overall plan for my smile was. Complete waste of time. On my next consultation, I told my dentist it hadn’t left me very confident about using the practice for such extensive/expensive treatment if they don’t really feedback to each other and he asked me to come back and see another orthodontist. After lockdown I was booked in, and on arrival, the most passively aggressive receptionist told me they would not let me into the treatment room until I’d paid a deposit to secure the appointment. I was confused I was actually standing in reception – there was no risk of me not turning up! She said she’d refund as soon as I came out of consultation and it was just “protocol” – so I reluctantly paid – even though it was quite weird! She disappeared and came back and said “actually – we are going to charge you for this consultation as it’s your second orthodontist visit, so I won’t be able to refund you anymore”. Even though the first one was a complete waste of time and they never said it would be another chargeable consultation. In the end I left because, quite frankly, as good as my dentist is, I can’t help thinking that I can find a less stressful and more pleasant practice to spend my thousands with. Told my husband he can no longer use here too – for solidarity!

Google Bad Review (2):  I have been with St John's dental practice since a child (I'm 39 now) as have my whole family. I had never had a problem up until today.

I unfortunately had to cancel my appointment as my wife was unable to watch the kids due to last minute work commitments and i explained to Karen that I understand it was short notice but I was happy to pay the full amount as a penalty and reschedule.

Karen was extremely insensitive to the situation and proceeded to threaten me with the prospect of having to find a new dentist as other NHS patients are waiting.

When I explained I was sorry for the short notice but would expect some understanding as we are all in the same boat with school closures i was met with an attacking accusation that I had missed a staggering ten prior appointments.

I will acknowledge that I had previously cancelled some appointments due to mental health and last year due to coronavirus my appointments were cancelled by the dentist and as my wife and i had to shield but at no point will I agree that I have cancelled ten appointments unless she is counting within the 39 years of my life.

If you suffer with your health, anxiety or generally are a unwell person beware that Karen won't stand for your cancelled appointments, including making decisions for the dentist on whether they will want to see you again.

I ended the phone call telling Karen to leave it. I will unfortunately have to find a new dentist it seems.

Edit: this review is in no way a reflection of the dentists or nurses that work here. As previously stated, I have never had an issue with anyone before today's phone call with Karen.

Google Bad Review (2):  I don't know where to start here, firstly I'm not the type of person to leave a review, in fact I think this is the first time I have felt I need to write a review for something, the experience I have had with these people was like no other, me and my wife were treated like dirt, please read on…
I booked my wife an urgent appointment as she was experiencing excruciating tooth pains, I was at work so I had my father drop her off and take our 10 month old baby back with him while she was being treated as the treatment was going to take some time, my father lives a distance away so keep this in mind. after doing their checks they quoted £460 for the work on the day (which is fine), and the told my wife to pay upfront, she did not have her card at hand and asked them to take payment when my father picks her up (bear in mind this is not the first time we've been to this practice), they said there is absolutely no way, she called me in tears from the agony of the tooth pain and the attitude of the Dr and reception staff, I spoke to them on the phone, I asked if they can accept an online bank transfer, they said no, I asked if I can pay over the phone, not possible, so I had to leave work and head over to the dentist while my wife is waiting there in pain as otherwise she was being turned away. obviously I was not happy about the situation and my tone of voice clearly showed this on arrival, the receptionist declined to deal with me and soon the Dr and the nurse joined in to tell me that my attitude was unacceptable, the last thing I needed there is for this bunch to lecture me so I said you know what, please just take the payment and let me be on my way, my wife is in agony and I don't have time for this, to which the Dr replied, no, I will not treat her until you listen.. really??? after all that you want to sit there and lecture me? I have never had to pay any dentist/mechanic/restaurant/barber up front ever! the staff have shown clear signs of discrimination, I actually had to apologize for them to agree to treat my wife! after they treated us like dirt! if I had any other option I would have taken it but seeing my wife there is tears I just had to suck it up and say I'm sorry, they finally took my payment and I left, my wife described the events thereafter, and I just couldn't believe it, the nurse was deliberately being unpleasant with the equipment during surgery, at one point the Dr had to give her a sign to stop it during surgery, after it was all done the receptionist and nurse were having a good laugh about the situation as my wife was exiting the premises, since then my wife has been on antibiotics (Normal procedure) but even with this she has clear signs of infection including fever and palpitations (she is a heart patient), needless to say we are never going back there again, but would just like to warn anyone else thinking of joining this practice.

Went in without tooth ache, left with two huge fillings that were not necersary and have had tooth ache ever since. Was offered an appointment in 2 weeks to fix the damage they did. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Google Bad Review 1:  My cousin have had an emergency 01.01.19. To be honest the Doctor was brilliant but unfortunately the receptionist was very un-profesional & quite arrogant when we were tryind to get an appointment. He told us that normaly we need an appointment but that evening we could've went directly to the surgery but when we arrived and called again(sutprise! Surgery was closed) he told me that i misunderstand what he told me and definitely we needed previous appointment. However the Doctor attended and treated my cousin's emergency but he advised him to look foward for this problem. Even there as i was sitting on the waiting room waiting for my cousin to come out the receptionist was looking very unfriendly to me but i just ignored him.
Tonight I have had to calling again the surgery because my cousin seems to be in terrible pain. Again, the same receptionist attended the phone call with the same bad manners even worse.He was laud, rude and very very un-profesional. To my shame, i must recognise i was quite rude to him as well and i feel sorry for it as this was inapropriate for the education manners i've received.
It is very sad to know there are some good Doctors but how poor and ruin are the reception & and telephone services. Hopefully the surgery may take some actions in regards this receptionist employee.

Google Bad Review 1:  I’m a NHS patience. I’ve been here two times and both time it was a joke. The first time I had a cleaning that lasted no more than 3 minutes (the dentist didn’t even clean all my teeth) and the second time I had a broken tooth that he didn’t want to fix unless going for an expensive treatment. I’ve been around dental clinics but none as bad as this one. They don’t care about your health, just your money! Stay away!!

Google Bad Review (2):  Dr Abbas is awful. Had an emergency appointment and was refused surgery and sent away by a very rude and impatient Dr Abbas – told to go away and make another appointment in 3 weeks time – toothache was terrible. Dr Abbas made a claim for the emergency appointment even though I was given no treatment. I was not on benefits but Dr Abbas made a for income support by using an old signature of mine. I discovered this when I was sent a fine for £100 – I reported it and Dr Abbas begrudgingly admitted the claim was put through in error. This dentist takes on income support patients,treats them terribly and then tries to forge claims for non treatment. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE – there are plenty of honest fair dentists out there!

The dentist was not professional at all. Infact she didn't understand the issues related to my tooth properly. She was quite talkative, inexperienced rather than helpful or skilled!

Then next day , again I made another emergency appointment with NHS 111 with another dentist and finally got the right treatment.

The Issue related to my tooth was broken and a temporary filling was removed! And obviously there was Infections, pain as well but unfortunately on last friday (15/Nov/2019), at around 20:00 – I have visited a lady dentist in East Village Dental …. but she spoiled my time, my money and their service was , in a word, DISGUSTING!

Next day , when I have visited other dentist, she was completely surprised why the dentist in East Village Dental was not able to recognise any infection on tooth! The Second Dentist has taken out the infected nerves from the teeth, put a new dressing on it and prescribed Antibiotics & painkillers _ which at least has given me a Huge Relief!

Besides these, she has done or suggested completely opposite of whatever said by the dentist of East Village Dental…!!!

I will make a Written Complaint against East Village Dental as soon as I get time.

So, my request is , please please do NOT visit this type of horrifying ‘Time Wasters' anymore!!!

The dentist who treated me drilled to deep into my filing, than blamed another dentist in the practice (very professional) I was told I would need root canal!

And when I needed the treatment done as compensation, they would make the crown for there incompetence.

The day has come where I need root canal and guess what….

No one wants to know! Nor take any responsibility for there actions.

Please don't right a reply for my review pretending you care Or pretending to fix the situation! Or pretending I'm not even a patient!
I have wrote hand letter and email!

Never again I write this review to make sure it happens to no one else.

Now I have to pay over £1000 for there poor work not to mention the discomfort.

Google Bad Review 1:  Becoming greedy, difficult and rude. Too difficult to book an appointment for my mum as the practice is getting very bad due to great rudeness to their patients. The manager called Stacy did not resolve the problem and she was very difficult and rude. My mum had to change the practice as she had urgent condition.
My dad had also a minor procedure last year and the dentist dr IKER LEZCANO, let him leave the practice with blood coming from his mouth, dripping a lot in the street, the dentist did not bother himself to finish the treatment.
They are Getting vert bad and will lose their patients due to bad management.
