Google Bad Review 1:  There were many issues during the time our son attended CKA (August – mid November 2020 – 1s Room). The first day our son attended CKA the staff were out-of-ratio. I discussed with both owner/director (Summer) and Sarah (who acts as director in Summer’s absence). They assured me this was only because of new enrollment and adjustments being made with staff – I took their word for it. There were several other instances where the staff were out of ratio, which Summer passed off to staffing issues (late arrival by staff or needing to hire more staff). When I expressed my concerns for safety Summer advised these would be fixed and blamed the staff. We also had many issues with electronic devices and staff. There were more than 10 times at drop off or pick up that all the children were crowded around a staff’s personal phone and watching a show (my son was in the 1s room and I was advised no screen time is allowed in these rooms when we signed up). My son now loves Mickey and Elmo thanks to CKA. There were numerous times when I picked up and dropped off my son that I would see workers on their cell phones and not watching the children. When I brought this to the Summer’s attention she advised the issue would be handled and said no staff would have their own devices in the room. Even after this assurance we continued to encounter the same issues. I was told by one staff that it is easier to let the children watch her phone if one child is being fussy. Children in the older rooms were allowed to bring in their own electronic devices and when I asked Sarah about this, she responded that they allow kids to do this so they will remain quiet during nap time. So sometimes rooms are combined at the end of the day and my son was watching other children’s personal electronic devices. I also went more than a week without receiving any daily update sheet about my child – diaper changes, meals, nap…nothing. When I asked for these updates I was told by Summer this wasn’t given in the 2s room – although my son wasn’t being moved to the 2s room until December. I asked for the schedule of activities and received no response from staff. At least 3 times my son came home with scratches on his face and there were no accident forms given to me. When I emailed or called I was told that they had to check the camera because the staff in the room had not noticed an incident. Most concerning is that although Summer and Sarah will say measures are being taken to protect against Covid – there were absolutely none. Parents were allowed to enter freely with or without masks. Upon arrival I never saw any staff take their temperature on the thermometer attached to wall nor was my child’s temperature taken. This was extremely scary for us because every other daycare we called to enroll our son had all of these measures in place. The final straw was when I picked up my son and he was outside in the play area with only 1 shoe on – the other foot was bare (this was in the middle of November 4 ish PM). The staff got up, mumbled under her breath about “he took it off during nap timeâ€?, and retrieved it from inside his classroom. So they hadn’t taken the time to put his sock and shoe on before letting him play outside in November. On this same day his diaper was so soiled it has completely soaked through his pants (no daily report about diapers given). I emailed Summer (director/owner) about these issues and asked to meet with her. She addressed none of my concerns about his barefoot, told me if he had a soiled diaper upon pickup to bring him back in for a change, and she couldn’t meet me until early December (2 weeks later). My son did not attend CKA further and we were sent an email asking if he should be de-enrolled 4 days later. There is clearly a lack of leadership and oversight from Summer and Sarah. Although I think they have the best intentions they do not follow through with staff and make sure all guidelines are followed. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for childcare.

Google Bad Review (2):  CKA is not a reliable place to leave your children! They cheat the system and have people believing their workers are trained by DSS. Essentially they have strangers off the street caring for your child which is reflected in the other reviews. I have no idea how they are still open considering they already have a violation for this in the past. I would not trust my child with this place and would try my best to remove my child at once if possible. They’re not to be trusted.
