Google Bad Review 1: A dishonest garage! But they asked, so here’s an honest review…Car went in two weeks ago for a respray on the front end ONLY! The rear spoiler came back looking like the survivor of an acid attack that also lost a fight to a belt sander.
The person I believe to be the owner/manager of C and R Motors Ltd was my main point of contact whilst dealing with the garage. I’ll refer to him as ‘The Owner’ for the purpose of the review.
Here’s where it began – Some local workmen had accidentally damaged my car whilst working outside my house. After speaking with them, management kindly offered to right the damage caused. Some scratches on the front Bonet, bumper and front wing. I spoke to my local garage who I know well and trust. They don’t do body work and so recommended C and R Motors Ltd.
I received a quote and agreed for them to re-spray the front-end as recommended by The Owner. I was concerned about the visual difference in the old paint vs the new paint as the front end was the only part being worked on. He suggested that they would be polishing the car with a mechanical buffer reassuring me that it would help and all would be fine.
Now, the complication of having a third party pay the invoice meant that the invoice had to be settled before I could actually see or collect the car. BIG MISTAKE!
I have to be fair here, the front-end looked great! I could really see the additional effort to touch up some odd chips here and there. After never seeing a new paint job before, as far as I was concerned, the front end looked brand new!
As I approached the rear of the car I began to see that the paint on the spoiler appeared totally faded and tarnished by what could only be described as heavy buffering and the result of a chemical/product being sprayed onto it. I was quickly met with five guys all stood around me and the car (Not one wearing a face mask!) and the whole ordeal became awkward very quickly.
In the spirit of being fair and giving C and R Motors Ltd ample opportunity to offer an explanation, I contacted The Owner in writing, sharing photos. He did call me straight away but unfortunately opted for a baffle him with BS approach which was just insulting and quite frankly added insult to injury.
Here are some of the things The Owner had to say:
• We never touched the spoiler, why would we do work for free?
• I didn’t do anything to the spoiler that I didn’t do to the rest of the car.
• Yes, we polished the whole car but we didn’t damage the spoiler.
• We did such a good job on the rest of the car that the inferior paintwork on your spoiler now just stands out.
• It looked like that already.
• It’s your own fault, I offered to cost out respraying the whole car.
• Take the car to another garage and commission them to write a full report on it. Then call me back and I’d be happy talk to you then.
If you’ve read this far, you know by now what I think of this idea.
So in summary, here are my key learnings from my experience using C and R Motors Ltd:
1). Just because someone else recommends a garage, this doesn’t mean you should go in open hearted, honest and trusting.
2). ALWAYS ensure you take detailed pictures of your WHOLE vehicle before it goes into this garage.
3). DON’T believe the “we’ll look after you” spiel. GET everything in writing up front.
4). NEVER pay before you’ve seen the final condition of your car after ANY work has been carried out.
5). DON’T ever feel pressured or intimidated. it’s your property and they are providing you with a service. Take all the time you need and challenge anything unusual.
6). AND be sure to take a photo of your milage and fuel gauge when you drop the vehicle off.
All I needed was an honest body work garage I could just trust to put my car right. It came out with more damage and once again through no fault of my own. I appreciate that accidents can happen but the lack of honesty and avoidance tactics in The Owners response says a lot about this garage.

Google Bad Review (2): I have been encouraged to service my car here by reading lots of positive reviews. I’m writing this review to let you think twice before you leave your vehicle there (unless you don’t care about the cost). Here is my story: I provided the garage with my own engine oil. Oil which I have already used previously, and it was accepted by the manufacture’s garage. I’ve asked mechanic to use it and they didn’t have an issue with that. What a surprise it was when I came to pick up the car and was given ridiculously high bill to pay. On that bill was their Castrol oil (my oil wasn’t used as, according to the owner, it didn’t comply with manufactures standards. Flash news 0W-30 has nothing to do with manufactures standards. I refer the owner of the garage to use uncle Google for deciphering the oil denotation. The real reason behind using their oil is the fact the owner is Castrol seller, so obviously he wants to sell as much as possible to have revenue from it), air filter was also changed, even though it didn’t have to, as manufacturer recommends to change it every 40k miles (when it was changed), and my car was 45k. Pollen filter was also changed for no reason (it has been changed 2 weeks before). They top up the screenwash to. Whole 100 ml, as I’ve just topped it up. And of course charged me for it too like for 10 litres bottle. The only time they called me was asking about changing spark plugs. They didn’t mention the oil issue and the other filters. When I asked why did they change these filters, when they didn’t need to be changed, I was told that this is what they do – change all the filters and always using their engine oil. My It is a shame that they charge clients for doing things on their own back. All in all it cost me 90 quid more than it should have. I don’t dispute their quality of work as I have no issues there, at least not known to me at this time. But I feel my bill was overblown out of proportion as a result of purpose disinformation.
