Google Bad Review 1: I had a really sad experience with Sparta. I joined their “graduate scheme” at the end of this summer as I was searching for a career change from my Biomedical background. When I attended the group interview I was impressed by the promised opportunities and encouraged by Sparta saying that anyone, nevermind from what background, can join their program. I started my training and the training period itself was all good I felt lucky as I had an amazing trainer who was always willing to help and who was a positive and encouraging person.
To be honest, that's where all of my positive outlook towards Sparta ends. In the end of our 10-week training (week 8) we had a person being thrown out of our course as apparently he was being “rude” towards someone in the office (none of us on the course have ever experienced him being rude or impolite towards anyone else before, he was a really quiet and lovely person). Then we were told that if we don't pass an ISTQB exam at our first go we will also be thrown away from the course, so all of us were really stressed out about that. Some of us passed it at the first go and some of us didn't. The saddest part of it was that actually they let those who didn't pass the exam to retake it, so them saying that we have to pass it from the first go was just a way to apply pressure on us so they wouldn't have to pay for the second exam. I think this is really an inhumane approach, especially to those who don't handle this type of stress very well.
Anyways, after this exam, we kept on pushing through. We were doing our final project and at the same time doing the “Quality gate” interviews on our last week. It was so stressful because they were also willing to let us go if we don't pass it on our first go, after 10 weeks of unpaid training, us going to the office 9-5 Mon-Fri and doing homework. The tension was building up and I personally got insulted by some of the people on my course saying that I have almost passed the quality gate just because I am a girl. I don't blame the people who told me that because we were all under extreme pressure and I am sure they didn't mean it. All I saw was some really talented young people from poor backgrounds wanting to earn some money and trusting that if they get through this stressful experience they can reach that.
During this whole time, only a few of us got placed. I am personally really thankful for my amazing trainer because it felt like he was the only person motivated to make us feel better, to overcome all of the struggles, get placed and treated us as equals.
I personally had also an awful experience with the sales team getting me placed. I attended an interview and then every week following the interview for two months I was told that we will get an answer the next week. It was extremely tricky to support myself during that period, keep in mind Sparta doesn't aid you financially. After those two months of waiting for that so “we are almost there” position the sales team and the HR all of a sudden got quiet. I have tried to reach out to their HR to ask what happened and received no response. Then the sales team informed me that actually the company I was supposed to work got their budget cut. And as a cherry on top, after my official pre-assignment period finished I have received a call from Sparta saying that they have an interview for me not even mentioning or apologizing for the two weeks of silence.
I think this all says a lot about the poor company culture. I think its hard to find a company that would treat you well and you would feel included and respected no matter the level of your position in the company but it is definitely worth searching. I did not feel this way in Sparta, we were not even allowed to use the office space to study or do our homework after 6pm, we were offered the hallway to do our studying. It is just my personal experience and now I finally got a job in a company that I feel respected and never threatened so I am just grateful for this experience at Sparta which helps me to appreciate the nice job I have now 🙂

Google Bad Review (2): The woman who contacted me was rude. I was planning a funeral and kept pushing me to go to assement days. She kept calling me on unknown numbers and blocked my email after not answering her phone call when I was sitting by the coroner. She said I was a bad interviewee over the phone and thought it was in her right to tell me I had bad practice of interviewing. I didn't know it was an interview, she called me to tell me that the assessment was in about 2 hours. I was further away than that. Thank you Sparta Global for your thoughtfulness.
