Google Bad Review 1:  We are now coming to the end of what has been a fairly traumatic post-treatment experience.

Following a phone conversation regarding our house and symptoms, Pure Maintenance UK seemed confident that there was a mould issue and that the treatment would help. We were also reassured by the positive reviews of the company. Our only real concern, beyond the high cost, was the fact that survey and treatment would be completed on the same day. This didn't seem to make much sense to us, as surely homes vary in conditions and requirements?

Our concerns were unfortunately well-founded. One of the technicians arrived in the morning and had completed and left before we returned in the afternoon. Upon opening the front door we were hit with the most intense musty smell I have ever encountered. We rang the technician , who said we did have a particularly damp cellar and this had likely contributed to the smell/particles that were now in the air and causing us quite severe physical discomfort. If we had known this was a possible outcome it is unlikely we would have gone ahead with the treatment – confirmation of the flaw in their current “survey and treatment together model”.

After a weekend of airing out the house and taking antihistamines for itchy throat, bloodshot eyes etc we felt we had no choice but to rent an airbnb. For the next two weeks, we worked with Pure Maintenance to get the situation resolved; this included a second round of treatment, and more tests taken (we still hadn't received the initial test results).

Although the company did send technicians back to re-treat, the owner's main concern seemed to be when he would get the remainder of the payment – suggesting he was doing us a favour by not asking for it immediately. Our own concerns at that moment were whether our house was fit to live in. In order to know this, we need the results of the tests. These were not forthcoming. There were inexplicable delays in sending them off, and then vagueness in when they would return. We have now received one set of “re-test” results. But without anything to compare these to, there are not particularly insightful. Considering the technicians took several sets of before/after tests, it is unclear why we have only been sent one “after” test. I'm not saying they are wrong in declaring the mould problem “significantly improved”, but the fact is this cannot be evidenced by the limited results we were emailed, and the lack of transparency does raise suspicion. The musty smell caused by the first treatment has, thankfully, gone. The second treatment seems to have helped on this front.

My advice: insist on a survey BEFORE you commit to the treatment, and ask to see ALL test results, before and after. The condition of our basement and how it may respond to treatment is something we could have been warned about pre-treatment, and which would have saved us a very stressful and costly couple of weeks.

Google Bad Review (2):  In advance of having our flat fogged the communication with Pure Maintenance was great – they were informative and friendly. My parter tells me that on the day the member of the team that fogged our flat was polite and seemed “on it”. However after being told clearly that we would have the initial testing results back within 48 hours, it has now been 10 days and despite chasing this up we have still not received the initial findings, which given the high cost of the service, is very disappointing and frustrating.
