Google Bad Review: All the reviews are positive so I felt a duty of care to be honest and relate my experience. I had a cracked and infected tooth and after chewing on a piece of lamb one Friday evening, it became exquisitely painful. We're talking 11/10. It was just at the start of the bank holiday weekend but from the many reviews, I felt Pearl Dental could help. I rang, discussed the problem and was invited to see a dentist the next morning. That molar was due for extraction so I thought the inevitable would just be brought forward.

The first thing I noticed was how strongly perfumed the clinic space was. I'm one of many people who are sensitive to artificial perfumes. Anyway, I had a recent CT scan so the dentist could see the tooth and infection (which hadn't yet spread outside). Somewhat to my surprise, he decided against treatment. I asked him to confer with a colleague and he agreed. They felt my own dentist should do it, or perhaps, that I should go to a hospital (where they only give out pain relief and antibiotics).

I've never had an emergency at the dentist and I've never been sent to a hospital for dental treatment by any of my dentists during the past 63 years. Things have tended to go pretty well. Yes, an injection into the bloodstream did make me feel weird but that can happen to anyone. Point of note is that the abscess is still within the tooth so this is the time to extract it, not when the infection has spread to the gum etc.

I felt utterly defeated. I've been depressed ever since. Perhaps I don't know what can go wrong during extractions or why the dentists were afraid of an emergency. If only I wasn't disabled. Perhaps then people wouldn't be so frightened of me.
