Google Bad Review: I wouldn’t trust them. I went for three check ups which were fine, but then:
I popped in for a routine check up and was told I urgently needed a private referral to sort out an apparent issue with my crowns… the sort of work that is likely to cost hundreds if not thousands of pounds. To convince me of the need for this work the dentist went through the following scenario with me: “It’s the Friday night before a bank holiday. You take a cold chocolate bar out of the fridge and bite it but because of the issue with your crowns they are not strong enough to withstand this and they break. You are left broken front teeth and there are no dentists around to fix it for three days.”
Obviously, I was very worried (presumably his intention in spinning that yarn) but nevertheless I sought a second opinion. The second practice gave me a thorough check up, more thorough than usual in fact as I was a new patient, and did not mention my crowns. So I asked about the state of them specifically and was told they are fine. Eight months later my crowns are still intact, despite all the chocolate this Easter weekend, and the promised referral letter from the Old Street Dental Clinic has never materialised anyway.
I can only assume he would have got a referral fee for pushing me into this expensive and unnecessary treatment. But he was too inefficient to follow up his own referral.
Personally, I’ll never go there again.
If anyone’s interested though, the second opinion I sought was at London City Smiles. Down the road a bit (in Angel) but worth the walk! I was very impressed by them and have recommended them to a friend who felt the same. Very professional.
