Google Bad Review 1: I didn't have a great experience with My City Nest, and wanted to pass it on to others, so they may be fully informed.
My City Nest are very much bottom line driven, which in it's own right is fine as a business. However, I felt as if they weren't reasonable or fair with the charges they passed on to the tenants. It wasn't unusual for the company to try to pass on ordinary maintenance fees (ie. broken vacuum cleaner hose) onto the tenants, and I won't even begin to get started on their standard fees such as reference fees, administration fees, lease renewal fees, and so on.
I had a particularly unfortunate experience that probably needs to be shared. For unavoidable reasons, I had to break the tenancy agreement a few mths early, and they insisted I provide the new tenant to replace me, which is understandable. However, they required a NON-REFUNDABLE payment of 2 wks rent + administration and reference fee, amounting to almost £700 for the prospective tenant to have their references checked. Given they could simply refuse the references, and keep the entire payment, no one was willing to front up the payment to have their reference checked.
Ignoring the fact that if this isn't illegal, it certainly appears to be one of many unfair terms within the contract, it would just be nice these days to actually find a real estate agency that care about their tenants beyond the date the tenancy agreement is signed.
Use this company with caution, and read the fine print.
