Google Bad Review: Edited-I posted this on netmums and it was removed. Their solicitors sent me a letter harassing me for a legal action so I re-post it here (and on netmums).
We were offered a place at Millennium minis for our 2.3 year old daughter for a start date in early Sep, 2018 and went in for settling in sessions during the last week of August.
The first session, we went there for an hour. I was speaking to the room leader and then the assigned key worker for my daughter.
*While talking, I saw a little girl holding a bowl and spoon and pretending to feed the babydoll. Then, one of the staffs came and suddenly snatched the bowl and spoon from her and grabbed her hand and dragged her to the washroom without saying a word.
The second session I was told to leave my girl there to see how she got on and come back in an hour which I did. Then, they told me that there’d be a story time and then they’d have tea afterwards. I took my little girl to join the story time which happened outside of the room. The room leader was sitting on a chair. The children were sitting on the floor. And this comes the most unacceptable part of what I witnessed.
*One of the girls was trying to grab the handle of a bag that carried the books. The room leader pulled it off her hand abruptly. No words explained to this poor little girl. To my eyes, this was unnecessary as the girl wouldn’t cause any damage to anything, at most she would pull the bag down and the books would drop to the floor, and then what?
*One of the boys suddenly stood up and started to point at things. She grabbed him on his head and pushed him to sit down. This was unbelievable. I wouldn’t do this to my own child or any other children.
*All the children were forced to sit down and listen to the story. I heard a lot of adult shouting, counting, and giving orders to the kids. But they are between 2-3 years old. How long can they pay attention to something? Is it so important that they can’t miss the story time? What if they don’t want to listen to the story but want to play with the kitchen inside the room instead, can they not do it? Don’t they have their own will that should be respected?
While having tea, my daughter was sitting with me. During this, nobody invited us to join or showed my girl where to sit. We were treated like invisible beings in the room.
Then they were going out to the park holding a snake and walking together. Staffs were chatting among themselves about other things which means they didn’t pay any attention to the kids.
During the whole time, I saw a couple of occasions where kids fighting each other. Staffs were not paying enough attention to the kids to intervene or prevent it from happening.
All these happened in less than an hour that I was there. I was in tears when I saw how they handled and interacted with the children. I had to try to compose myself and stopped my tears while I was still with them. I felt that moving house and moving my daughter from her wonderful nursery to this one was totally a wrong decision I have made. I had a strong protective instinct and held my girl with me almost all the time after seeing the boy being pushed on his head to sit down.
I spoke to one of the management team afterwards that I wasn’t happy at all. She seemed unaware of what actually happened inside the room.
I came home on that day and decided that it was enough. I didn’t need to give them anymore chance. We were not sending our girl to this shocking place. It’s very likely that I will lose the money I’ve paid (about £1,3xx) and they will bill me more to ask me to pay 6 weeks’ notice period if what I’ve paid doesn’t cover it).
