Google Bad Review 1: I had an appointment booked with Alexa. Received an email 9min prior to the appointment that she cannot make it on time, when called it turned out that she didn't have a key. Tried to blame her colleague who took it instead of taking responsibility for her own mistake. When are agents like March and Parsons will start to value other people's time and money?

They asked for a long term lease which I agreed at that time but things changed and I had to break this lease. Despite having finding new tenants after 2 weeks they charged me 10% of the rent until the end of my lease for commission fees (2975 gbp!) on top of other charges like “tenancy break admin” (150gbp), “New tenant referencing” (162 gbp), “New tenancy agreement charge” (225gbp) …
When challenging them about the reason of that commission, they just copy/paste what I had to sign in the contract:
“29.2 If the Tenant vacates the Property during the Term, the Tenant will remain liable to pay Rent and any other monies payable under this Agreement until the Term expires or the Premises are re-let whichever is earlier, whether or not the Tenant chooses to continue occupying the Property. If the Property is re-let during the Term, the Tenant will reimburse the Landlord for any letting agents’ fees or other reasonable costs incurred from that point until the end of the Term. This will include a deduction to compensate the Landlord for any Letting Commission charges payable to Marsh & Parsons for the period of the Term in which Rent was not received as a result of the Tenant terminating the Tenancy in a manner contrary to the Terms of the Tenancy Agreement. For the avoidance of doubt this clause shall not take effect where the Tenant is operating a break clause contained in this Agreement. ”
The reasonable costs incurred are in fact 10% (is that reasonable seriously?) Also if you knew the percentage, why is it not properly mentioned in the contract?
Furthermore, given the new tenant will pay also the 10%, it implies that Marsh & Parson receives twice this commission fee …
To resume, the agency asks you for a long term contract but if you break it before, they will ask you 10% until the end of the agreed contract even if you find new tenants (who will pay these 10%) and pay for the admin costs.
Melissa Polvan who now works in another department did not tell us the truth about that charge and does not answer anymore.
Future tenants, I more than encourage you to deal with smaller real agencies with fairer business values.
