Google Bad Review 1: The overweight nurse/receptionist is extremely rude and should not be working front of house. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. She may be on her menopause which would explain the attitude but that is no excuse to be rude to your customers. You will lose business! Completely unacceptable

Google Bad Review (2): Took my 14 year old staffy here last year as he suddenly felt extremely lethargic, and he died. My usual vet was Abingdon Vet Centre, and they were always amazing. Abingdon suspected he had a tumor but for further testing it would have cost me £3000+ which I simply could not afford. So, I searched around for a better price for further testing and found this vet.
Upon our first meeting, I immediately got bad vibes from Dr. Johnny Irish – he just lacked any compassion towards my dog and the situation. Obviously with my dog's poor state I didn't really have the luxury of looking around for other vets as time was valuable. I understand that vets can't be totally empathetic especially after a first visit but it was simply my gut instinct that Dr. Johnny just did not care. While telling me he also suspected a tumor in my dog, he said it with a smirk on his face, which I just found really strange, and was just generally cold. But, I put that behind me and thought I was over-thinking. He told us surgery was the only option to try and save our dog, and that our dog had a medium-high chance of not surviving through surgery. My older sister, who was not there at the time, wanted to know more about the procedure, so we called Dr. Johnny Irish the next day, the day of the procedure, and he said “Well I explained all of this yesterday” in a frustrated tone (considering we were going to pay close to £2000, with a risk of our dog dying in the process, it felt uncalled for). Without me even saying anything, my sister said “That guy has such bad vibes” after the phone call, so I knew my gut instinct was right. We were so torn with what to do – leave him in the hands of a vet who I felt as though did not care about our dog and our situation, or let our dog deteriorate painfully without any intervention. We finally decided to take him for surgery.
They took our dog downstairs, and my brother quickly asked if he could say one last goodbye – Dr. Johnny seemed really bothered by this, and frustrated at my brother's request. After surgery, they said he was fine, which I was ecstatic about, but when they handed him to me, he was totally limp. They didn't give me any advice on what to if he passed away, and acted like he was totally fine. My older brother told me you need to tell them that he's not OK (judging by his limp state), but I trusted that since they handed him back to me, rather than keep him monitored, that he was fine. Within 2 hours of being home, my dog took his last breath and passed away. I wrote a review last year but deleted it as I wanted to sit with my emotions, but a year later, I feel exactly the same about my experience here. I'm not sure if the lack of compassion was because my dog was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (many associate younger owners of these dogs as bad people/gang affiliated), but the whole experience was horrible. Yes, my dog was old, but had so much energy for his age, and I can't help but feel that had he been in compassionate hands, more care would have been taken during surgery and post-surgery.
From my experience, I don't recommend this vet at all. We took our dog after he passed away to Elizabeth Street Vetinary clinic who were just absolutely amazing and so sympathetic/compassionate about our situation. My dog was like a brother to me. I regret every day not being able to pay for the surgery at my usual vet. Just giving my honest experience so others can be wary with their beloved family member. If you see a similar review, that is my brother giving his own account.
