Google Bad Review: I read all these reviews and Kensa sounded great, but sadly our experience was anything but. After some trouble getting a response from them initially (perhaps because of the timing in relation to the pandemic) the conversation I had with James made me feel confident they were just the right people for the job. However now that I know the full picture, I think that Steve Costello's behaviour towards us may be the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
At first it was just little things: Communication was poor, he didn't reply on the dates he said he would, he was patronising and talked over me on the phone, information he gave us was contradictory and he appeared to have little knowledge of the criteria for the domestic versus non-domestic RHI schemes. So I had a very pleasant call with the CEO, who said he was happy to provide a different point of liason who had experience of multi-building projects.
However, it seems from what I have now learnt that Mr Costello became so paranoid he'd be fired because I spoke to the CEO, that he started contacting other companies we had dealt with to talk negatively about me behind my back. When I heard from 3 different sources he had done this, I made a complaint that this was unprofessional and a breach of GDPR. Kensa refused to respond to my complaint, except to say they would no longer work with us – leaving us months behind schedule and thousands of pounds out of pocket.
After ICO found Mr Costello had breached data protection regulations Kensa had to refund my costs, commit to training staff better and make a full written apology. The latter admitted that Steve Costello had phoned other companies to slag us off, and had then lied to his boss about it, but it said that they believe despite this he had provided a fantastic service. That speaks volumes about company values, we were very glad we took our custom elsewhere.
Independent GSHP experts (including the chair of the GSHPA) have reviewed the entire correspondence and said that the information we were given by Mr Costello was incorrect and contradictory, our questions were well-founded, and we did absolutely nothing wrong as customers. We are therefore in the process of passing on our concerns about Kensa to the various regulatory bodies. Thankfully we have subsequently used another company to install our heat pump system, and have had no similar problems.
