Google Bad Review 1: A warning to those considering a Jewish Care Home – especially if their loved-one is terminally ill.
My mother was resident at Lady Sarah Cohen House. During this time they continually and repeatedly ignored instructions from her doctors, failed to manage her oxygen requirements, overdosed her on her thyroid medication as well as mismanaging her other prescribed medication. They left her at risk of falling and did not always provide her with meals among many other things.
In response to my complaint, Gaby Wills, Director of Care for the whole of Jewish Care, wrote “The attention to details of medication such as ‘Movicol' (a laxative) and the expected ‘overflow' of eye drops (for glaucoma) seems striking when considering the bigger picture (i.e. nearing end of life).”
Being constipated can be extremely painful and possibly dangerous to a person’s health to the point of being fatal. It is not a mere “detail” as the “director of care” would have it.
Jewish Care's response to my extremely serious complaint, seemed to be an exercise in obfuscation. Despite all the evidence contained in their own records, they failed to acknowledge and apologise for all the potentially life-threatening mistakes made in my mother's care at Lady Sarah Cohen House even after I presented all the evidence to them.
