Google Bad Review 1: Oh dear, where do I start? First of all I think most of the reviews on here are probably family members or employees rendering them essentially fake. Now I wanted to give them feedback about why I didn't want my children attending but the sheer audacity of them has made me write this public review instead. I will be honest. I have a friend who is a teacher with a senior position at her school who also does some tuition on the side but sadly she lives too far away from me and I always ask for her advice in these matters. So moneywise, they are cheap and some of you may say, ‘well you get what you pay for' but I still expect high standards regardless of cost. On the other hand they charge you £20 per child for “materials” which is actually some notebook and 2 collins workbooks that cost only 5.99 each. First impressions, the first day I attend with my kids, their staff just walk around, do not say hello/good morning (not a good first impression but I chose to let it lie). I expect to go in and at least have the tutors introduce themselves to me but no, so alarm bells are ringing but again I choose to ignore at this point. I go ahead and seek them out and introduce myself, my kids etc. My daughter's tutor who looks about 12 seems nice and chatty enough. My son's tutor smiles and looks as though he could have do with a shower and haircut and it was obvious he probably hadn't brushed his teeth that day. I had to ask them, ‘are you my child's tutor?', ‘yes' he says, ‘ok what's your name?', so internally I'm sighing ‘this is “hard work”‘. So anyway after the 2 hour session my daughter has made friends and worked well and had fun and my son said the same. So I don't know what the other parents are doing but it seems that English is not the first language for most of them so they probably don't know any better and trust these people to provide good quality tuition. I checked my daughter's book and found it littered with not only her own spellings going unchecked but the tutor's mispellings and bad grammar. So this defeats the whole purpose of tuition and if a child constantly sees their teacher/tutor spelling things wrong/using bad grammar, they will easily pick up these bad habits. Now my son is older and more vocal/opinionated so he told me how his tutor ate junk food throughout the 2 hour session and they all seem to constantly check their phones (FB, insta, social media). So after taking these issues up with them I learnt that this tutor no longer worked there. Cue the next tutor, my son didn't want to go back because he said that she had terrible body odour that he didn't want to endure for 2 hours on sunday. To top this she was also constantly on social media on her mobile and had little clue of what she was doing- I mean the collins workbooks have all the answers in the back of the book and she was still getting things wrong. My friend said that one of the children, was refusing to do her work, the tutor spent so much time rolling her eyes and trying to get this child to comply that it created a distraction for the other children in the group and also meant that they had less time with the tutor (surprise!- she is the child of the manager). So my friend was also not impressed by this but she was too kind to say how she really felt and blamed it on financial reasons, they replied that they wished she had respected the 4 week trial. I think parents are more than capable of understanding if a place is suited to them or not. So unprofessional and a little rude. My own experience was just as unpleasant, they claimed that because my children had only attended 4 sessions my feedback wouldn't be valuable. They had more than 4 sessions for a start, and it only takes 1 session to get a feel for things and the feeling was not a good one! But don't take my word for it, try them and see for yourself.
