Google Bad Review 1: We had an initial quote to have our floors sanded for £1000. They came to our place for an estimate and perform a sample test of stains.
They then suggested slithers for our floors for an extra £600, which we were fine with.
Then 3 weeks later when they came to actually do the work (and after we had removed our carpets and made our house in disarray for them to sand the floors), the suggested replacing the screws on the floors for aesthetics for roughly £450. Again we were fine with that.
But then they said the floors were too weak to sand…and to fix it would cost almost an additional 2k. Even though they came to our place a few weeks earlier and did not warn us or advise us about the weak floors. To note, these were the same individuals.
Basically at the 11th hour they said the could not do it unless we replaced the floors. So we gave in and said yes to the cost. So an initial quote of 1k ballooned to almost 4K.
When we finally agreed to the new price they then said we needed to rip out the floors in our landing (which were already sanded and stained by another company) and basically rip up our side boards… which would have been a few thousand more.
The thing is they came to our home and did an initial review, they sanded a small part of the floors, yet nothing was ever mentioned about the weak floors or nails at that time.
What is frustrating is that when they were finally booked and we did so much work to remove the carpets to be ready for them, they added all these new costs and basically said they would not do the floors unless we replaced the wood. So we were basically stuck with no option.
I’m sure they do a good job. But I would definitely get second opinions on the costs and the work they are advising on.
Buyer beware.
