Google Bad Review: I don't like leaving bad reviews for small business but the service I received from Tom and Ian has been appalling.
I took my car to Diamond Bodycraft after someone reversed into me and damaged my front bumper. I ask for them to respray the whole front bumper , the nearside rear quarter panel, a small roof trim and refurbish the wheels. Tom was very helpful told me the price and ensured me that the wheels would be acid dipped and done to a high standard. We arranged a date and I dropped off the car being told the work would take around 1 week.
10 days later the car was done and I went to pick it up. The first thing I noticed was that the bumper had not been fully resprayed as requested, just the damaged corner. Even the resprayed corner was badly done with lots of overspray. When questioned they said “we didn't do the whole bumper as we would have had to take the bumper off”. I specifically asked them to spray the whole bumper as it had stone chips all over it not just the corner.
I next inspected the nearside rear quarter and roof trim. I found it to be a completely different shade of yellow to the rest of the car ! Ian the owner of Diamind Bodycraft even described it as “offensively bad” . Not only was it a different shade but the quality of the finish was rubbish. The paint was rough, full of contaminants and lumps. Next I checked the small roof trim and found that not all the rust had been removed from it before being resprayed.
Next the wheels, again a really rough job, corrosion had just been sprayed over. They had definitely not been acid dipped. When I bought all this to the attention of Ian the owner, he reluctantly agreed to do the work again. However for the wheels I would need to visit the wheel refurb company as they had contracted the work out. I visited the wheel refurb company and they told me that Diamond Bodycraft had told them not to bother acid dipping them.
I agreed to take another half day off work to bring the car in so they could redo the bodywork. They also agreed to give me a courtesy while I have the work done. On arrival I was met with Ian who explained they don't think they can do my car as their paint oven is broken. This meant I had just wasted another half day off work. I agreed that I would wait until the oven was fixed and bring my car back. Two weeks later I contacted them to ask about the oven and book the car in. Ian this time said to me that before bringing the car back I would need to remove the bumper myself, as removing the bumper was not part of the original deal. This was ridiculous as how were they going to spray the whole bumper in the first place. Luckily I'm an ex Jaguar mechanic so I could remove the bumper myself, but again this was more time off work !
Finally I dropped the car off for a third time with the bumper loosely attached so it could be removed and painted easily. A few days later I took more time off work to pick the car up. To my amazement they had decided not to spray the whole bumper, just the corner again !!! Why did they ask me to spend all the time to remove the bumper !! The quarter panel had been re-spray and now matched, but roof trim still had some rust on. As for the alloy wheels, even though I paid Diamond Bodycraft for the work, they are saying I need to chase the company they contracted the work out to. It was Diamond Bodycraft that told them not to bother acid dipping them.
I have now given up with Diamond Bodycraft. They did not end up repainting my whole bumper and I still need to get the wheels painted again. They have messed me around and accused me of lying about want I asked them to do. My biggest regret was not getting a written quote. I will be posting a video review on u tube detailing the poor work that was carried out to my vehicle
