Google Bad Review 1:  Absolutely terrible procedures in this restaurant.I made a reservation stating my allergens, which was accepted and confirmed.Upon arriving the polite maitre de confirmed he was aware of my nut allergy and had some options ready for me. Upon actually trying to order food, I was flat out REFUSED any food , the restaurant manager told me that they could not accommodate me due to my nut allergy.

When questioned about why my booking was accepted and confirmed with clear options selected to inform them of my nut allergy on thier own system…..the manager became patronising and right out LIED and said the information wasn't on the system – despite other staff mentioning they were aware to me.

He informed me we could stay for some complimentary drinks ( a poor substitute for a wasted journey with no meal) – but then proceeded to come over TWO more times – at which he proceeded to assign blame to me – I immediately let him know that the procedures needed to reflect thier incompetency in catering to individuals with allergens.

Why were there 3 points where I was not informed of this – making the reservation with options to add in allergens – confirming the booking electronically via thier own system, lastly, staff confirming it would be no problem upon arrival.

As my friend & I were already at the establishment, we had one more drink and then left.

It absolutely disgusts me that this was the manager's attitude in this situation.

I am sure management will leave a comment stating there was a miscommunication, claiming I am disgruntled; or somehow lax in my attitude to my own anaphylactic nut allergy. DO NOT BELIEVE IT!

I am disgusted and disappointed in this discriminatory behaviour.

Google Reviewer 2, Name (Bad Review):  Risha Nanda

Google Bad Review (2):  To preface this message the Code App is an app used by people in the service industry to enjoy dining at wonderful restaurants across London with a discount.

I work in the restaurant industry and went to Coya this evening to enjoy a lovely meal with a friend from New York.

I have the code app – when I presented the app (which gives 50% off of food not including alcoholic beverage) the manager (called Breezy) came over and said we could not use the app as we were supposed to tell him we had the app upon arrival because we would have been given a different menu – which is totally fair .

I asked for the “different” menu for future reference in which he brought me the same menu. I was genuinely confused because this was the exact same menu. I then said, I completely understand if the menu was different but this is the same menu and you are treating me like I’m trying to con you. (Mind you I pay for the luxury of this app). He then said no, you can not just enjoy your meal and then tell us you have the app.

SO what I understood here was that I was not allowed to ENJOY my meal in this fancy restaurant with this great service because I have an app that essentially says I cannot afford this place. Had I told him I had the app at 7:30pm as opposed to 9:30pm we would have had a different service – discrimination to say the least. Moreover, we were two young women dining, so some might understand that we could have never won the argument.

What I know as someone who has worked in fine dining for 15 years is that nothing in his system would merit the fact that he denied us something we could have easily used. His system did not know that we checked in at 7:30 and his ego and demeanour only told me how he felt about us using the app.

I have used this app on numerous occasions in the most lovely places across the city, never have I experienced this. Again, as someone who understands the system in service, I actually was mind boggled.

And I am sad to see that a person who works and manages at this restaurant seems to have an attitude of “above” as a person who serves.

This was the most insulting experience I have ever had.
