Google Bad Review (2): I have saved and rehabbed many abandoned and abused cats over the past 18 yrs, and I am currently caring for 26 cats/kittens. My little cat Bailey became seriously ill very quickly, and as I already have 3 cats with chronic conditions registered with the PDSA, they could not see him and so they referred me to Celia Hammond in Canning Town. I contacted CHAT and explained the situation, but was told that they would not see Bailey until the following week. I tried to explain that the situation was urgent and that he was so seriously ill that I believed he would die if not seen immediately. The lady I spoke to said that it was very unfortunate that my cat was ill, but it was not their responsibility, and that he still couldn't be seen until the next week. By this time I was in tears, but her attitude hardened and she told me that it was no good me getting upset and that my cat could not be seen no matter how ill he was. She then put the phone down on me. Eventually, I called the Vet Hospital at Wanstead, even though I knew I couldn't afford the costs, and they told me to bring Bailey straight in to them. Bailey died on the way to the hospital, he was only 4yrs old. I have donated to Celia Hammond for over 10 years… I will never donate anything to them again. The member of the reception team that I spoke to was unfeeling, unsympathetic and downright rude. For a charity that advertises itself as an animal welfare organisation, the treatment that I and in particular, my cat Bailey received was unforgivable. I will no longer recommend CHAT to anyone and I will also no longer encourage people to donate to them. RIP Bailey!
