Google Bad Review 1:  I can`t give less than 1 star unfortunately as this is still too much for these individuals.
Where should I start?
Currently we still don`t know if me and my family will have a shelter due to “professionalism” of Select Agencies Southgate.

More than 1 month ago we found a property, we put an offer, offer was accepted and we started all the usual procedures to secure the house.
We have payed a week worth rent deposit (money still not refunded), we sent the references (which obviously went through), so everything was perfect.

We prepared all in our side: notice to our current landloard, closing/moving utilities, internet accounts, ordering furniture, etc  which involved costs as one could imagine.

I have been in contact with the agent every week, asking how everything is going, if everything is on track, just to make sure that we will have a smooth transition.
With around a week before the move they told me that there will be few days delay for the agreed tenency start date, but everything is ok and we can start to bring our stuff in, as agreed.

Suddenly with 2 days before starting to bring the stuff in (the initially agreed date of tenancy start) and 1 week before our move out date we have been told by these “professionals” that the landlord change her/his mind and they don`t want to rent the house anymore, basically blaming their contractual agreement with a 3rd party for me.

Needles to say the hell that we just been thrown in with only 1 week before move out date, utilities accounts move on new address, furniture to be delivered on the new address and actually no place to move in.

The only thing that these amazing people could do was to propose another property which is over our agreed budget, it is still not renovated and basically impossible to take it as being far from the area we were looking and out of our budget.

I don`t even mention the stress, mental health damage that all this experience is bringing to us as adults and our child.

Disgusting, unprofessional and dishonest!

Select Agencies are the worst business I have ever come across. As a now ex-tenant, I strongly recommend that you avoid renting through them. We had a mass of black mould across 3 bedrooms in the house. Damp was widespread and the agency were very un-reactive in dealing with it. (In fact it was still there at the point I left the house). They would consistently not respond to emails. It took a lot of unnecessary effort to get somebody to even respond. They would regularly tell us someone was coming over to fix it that day and nothing would happen. They would inform contractors of a problem completely unrelated to the one we'd asked to be resolved. Often one of us would return to the house to find men in the house, having not been provided the 24 hour notification, that they would be there (that's illegal) (we rarely received any notification…).

They also got my name incorrect on the contract, which is crazy as they charged me £100 to have a copy of my passport. I also had to coerce them for a receipt for this.

When my partner and I refused to sign on for another year as they had still not fixed the damp, they automatically sent an eviction notice, unnecessarily distressing the other tenants. The rent for the new contract had gone up by the contractual maximum of 10% and the eviction notice was clearly a move to extract more money. £360 was charged for the 3 remaining housemates to be ‘re-referenced'. I would love to have seen any proof that this service was actually conducted (one housemate had paid £100 two weeks prior, for the same service). One top of that, that amount was more than is quoted on their website, (losing count of the number of incidences that have stretched the law here).

We consistently had drainage problems with the house and I lost count of the number of times, repairmen were sent around, having been informed of the wrong problem. Some roofers also left their building materials in our garden for over 6 months.

Also, when it comes to the Tenacy Deposit Protection, I'd be very skeptical by their approach. I was encouraged to do a bank transfer directly to an ex-tenant and entrust that my name was updated on to the scheme (thankfully it was). I also didn't give formal permission for my name to be removed from the scheme and was given my deposit back via bank transfer. Regardless, there is no guarantee that your deposit is safe, in the manner they deal with it.

Once you they have got your money, as a tenant, Select Agencies will do as little as possible for you and make it very difficult for any problem resolution.

I could not be happier now that I removed Select Agencies from having any impact on my life. Sounds like an exaggeration, but honestly.. it's not.

If you value where you reside at all, just avoid Select Agencies.
