Google Bad Review 1:  I hosted a baptism at this venue on the 1st May. I chose this venue for two main reasons. 1 being it's practically on my doorstep and 2 they have disabled access ( lift ). Now, an hour before my reception i received an email from the events assistant with a reminder of the access code for the parking. However, when my family started to arrive they couldn't get through to the parking and parked elsewhere. It wasn't until I arrived with some people whom where driving, did I realise we couldn't get to the car park. I told the team the code wasn't working and they said they changed the code at the last minute. Okay, why was it changed? and better the better question, why didn't they let me know?

Once we got through my brother told me the lift wasn't working. I couldn't believe it because I had my baby arriving in her buggy, my nephew who is wheelchair bound and elderly guests in attendance. I asked when had the lift stopped working? They told me from yesterday evening. I was puzzled as to why they again, failed to make me aware of this. The event assistant told me and engineer was supposedly coming out but, they have no idea when.

My daughters buggy had to be carried up and down, my elderly guests had to use the stairs ( that wasn't too bad ) and my nephew could not attend.

I believe I had roughly 2 hours before they end of the reception when the assistant found alternative arrangements. She stated we could use the lift access for a cafe next door to them however, there is quite a step. I made the suggestion to my sister and of course she wasn't comfortable with this and I personally never saw the step and wouldn't feel comfortable knowing it was a health and safety hazard.

Anyway, the event assistant tried her best and we did ask her for the contact details of the manager.

I received an email from Carole with an apology and 10% off my next booking.

It's funny because I never had a good experience, so how brazen of you to think I'll book with you guys again.

I emailed Carole and made her aware this was unacceptable and for compensation. I understand things happen and you have no control over it but my issue was the lack of communication. When I received an email an hour before my event, why didn't they email contain the pass code change? If the lift was faulty from the evening before, why wasn't I notified in the morning?

Anyway, they responded with just a Amazon gift card, with an apology for the faulty lift but failed to acknowledge their poor communication.

I would never book with them again.

Google Bad Review (2):  Had my child's first birthday. The booking was straight forward and they were prompt with their responses. The venue is clean and good for hosting small parties.

My only issue was during the party some lady came a few times asking for the volume to be reduced saying they had received noise complaints. Bearing in mind its 7pm. At the time of booking they did not mention about the volume needing to be low. I didn't understand as it was a party after all and people were dancing. Found it really uncomfortable with her standing at the door and it really made my guests feel uneasy. And this resulted in them leaving before the end time which was 9pm.
