Google Bad Review:  Staff at the reception is rude, unprofessional and unhelpful.
When I tried to book a room for one of the students in my school for a week he wasn't willing to give a straight answer on prices. He charged me £22 for the night on Sunday telling me that weekends were more expensive than the week and then wanted to charge me £28 for Monday. When I questioned him about weekend being more expensive, he told me that today, 12/7. was the last day with that price. Anyone with at least a very small brain would know that today would be the last day with that “high” price as it was Sunday and Monday is not the weekend.
I wanted to rent the room for 7 days but he wanted to charge me something around £179 and couldn't really tell me why, so I decided to leave. Unfortunately, the student wanted to stay in the area and 10 minutes later we went back to rent the room for 7 days. The staff refused to rent the room to us. When I asked him why he told me he didn't have to give me an explanation. As I insisted he said he just didn't want to rent it to us. Once again I asked why, as I just needed to have a plausible explanation. I wanted to know if that was because of the colour of our skin or our race. So, he went to say that I had been rude to him before and he didn't want me to be rude to the staffs. I asked him how I was rude and told him that It wasn't me who would stay in the place. The person who would stay didn't even say a word in the whole situation. He just asked me to leave and threatened to call the police. I told him that he could call the police. What would they charge me for? For trying to book a room in a hostel and be refused to do so without even a good explanation? I asked his name and he refused to give it to me. I asked to talk with the manager and he said he wouldn't call the manager for me because I wasn't a guest there. As he went calling the police I had to leave to find another place for the student of our school.
It is unbelievable that this guy is sitting at the front of the desk reception with his attitude and lack of any interest for his job and probably losing a lot of money for the owner of the business, whoever that person may be and as far as I could see the manager was nowhere to be seen there, so I am actually relieved that our student didn't stay there as this would definitely ruin the reputation of our school.
I found a much better hostel and cheaper in Queensway.
