Google Bad Review (2): I never leave bad reviews but this time I felt I really had to – I wish I'd paid attention to a review I'd read with a similar reaction before I went to Skinwork.
I had the regular Signature Facial – I'm very protective of my skin and hate peels or anything too harsh so I specifically picked it because it said no downtime and had no mention of acids. When I arrived I gave them my full history and skincare used but it seems not that much attention was paid. The initial facial was fine (although for the same price I've been to the Rosewood and that was a much more lux experience) but towards the end therapist put something on my face that started to burn. I flagged it but was told it was normal. When the facial was finished my face was bright red, and so sore.
No downtime was definitely not the truth for me – my whole face peeled and is still sensitive and red a week and a half later. Management have told me it's because my cheeks were heavily congested (I had two spots) and because of retionoid use (which I informed them about before). Seems silly to only go for a facial when you have perfect skin, but apparently that's the only way to avoid a reaction like this! Particularly if they're not taking into account your skin needs before the treatment starts.
