Google Bad Review (2): I share the poor experience of other customers below, especially Joanne. I too would award no star if that were possible. I read information on the company's site and exchanged emails with Michael Spencer-Wright, the Sales and Marketing Manager. I was aware that with a lawn drainage problem I would indeed need specialist advice so, like Joanne, paid an advance fee in the belief that this would be a really thorough assessment and solution. The company director Stuart Barten arrived at the appointed time and seemed to be thorough, although for £250 I was surprised he did not do any technical survey of the levels involved in the problem. He assured me that he would hunt out the original drawings for the plot, so as to check the existing drainage, because he knew where to go for these. My partner asked him (for confirmation) if he was the one to do this and he said yes because it was easiest for him.
After a month I emailed to ask if the report might be on its way. I had a report emailed through the next day, done only that morning and with a final sentence incomplete and inconclusive. There was no reference to the aforementioned drawings. I rang up & Michael investigated the missing ending. He gave me the final sentence conclusion & said that was all that had been missed off. I asked about the drawings and he said that “would have been extra” to supply. I said Stuart had quite definitely said he would obtain them because we double checked at the time. The report appeared rushed as if we had been forgotten until I made contact after the month's wait.
I wrote a letter to ask formally about the lack of drawings but had no reply. I wrote again and asked to have it recorded as a formal complaint: again no reply. This is breach of contract because it was a verbal agreement for the Director, Stuart Barten, to obtain the drawings.
To add insult to injury I obtained the drawings myself and discovered that the solution Stuart Barten had proposed was based on a complete inaccuracy. He proposed to divert excess water into a “storm drain” already there underneath an existing downpipe. The drawing proved that this was a soakaway and therefore part of the problem as probably blocked; there is no storm drain. Their proposal was founded on a non-existent drain and they wanted over £5,000 to carry out this fantasy remedy.
Do not pay this company any fees in advance. They are in breach of contract with me and by the look of it have failed others too.
