Google Bad Review (2): HORRENDOUS MOVERS! Do yourself a favour and USE ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANY!!! If you expect your personal belongings to be delivered in the same condition you packed them…Think again with these cowboys.
We recently used VanOne to move from London to Spain. They advertise that there will be a driver accompanied by an extra employee to help load the van. This was not the case as only the driver showed up. We ended up moving a large portion of the load ourselves.
With the benefit of hindsight there were immediate red flags as we could observe how another load that was sharing the truck was loaded.
Nothing was tied down or properly arranged within the truck even though the truck was equipped with all the right ropes and gear to do so.
On seeing our load the driver made a call to the office but speaking in Polish all we could hear were Polish swear words so it was safe to say he was unhappy seeing our load.
We were subsequently told we would have to pay for an entire new truck which immediately doubled the fee. After refusing to pay the extra fee we were told by the office if we paid the truck driver £100 in cash they would source a second empty truck. Another red flag.
An empty truck arrived about 30 mins later even though we had loaded the first truck with almost all our belongings. As we had to catch our flight and make our way to the airport the 2 drivers said they would load our belongings into the second truck.
On the day the truck was supposed to arrive there was no sign of the driver hours after the confirmed delivery time. We called the office and they said they would call the driver to find out what had happened. The office called us back soon after and told us the driver had gotten lost and would arrive the next day.
This was inconvenient as we had made plans the next day but we had little choice to accept it and cancelled our plans. Being hours late once again we called the office and after they spoke to the driver they told us the driver would arrive in the next 30 mins. What was bizarre was we then received a photo text message from the truck driver himself showing his speedometer which showed he was travelling at 130kmph.
We then started to get very worried as we moved to a mountainous region of Spain which has very windy roads. Our fears were confirmed when the truck finally arrived and the back of the truck was opened. The load was left completely unsecured and had obviously shifted during the journey several times and the damage done to our belongings was clearly evident.
Moreover the driver who arrived could not speak a word of English and was completely different to the other 2 drivers we had met in London. This meant our load had been moved a 3rd time into another truck for some unknown reason at some point along the journey.
Our antique handcrafted rosewood table was destroyed by the metal frame of our sofa scraping along it as the sofa had rolled on top of the table, hard wearing plastic totes were smashed with their contents spilling out into the interior of the truck, photo frames were broken, glassware was broken and our brand new sofa had obvious foot prints and large black marks across the entire upholstery.
It is safe to say we were devastated as some of these items were simply irreplaceable as they were family heirlooms.
After speaking with the office and sending photos of the devastation we were told we would be contacted by customer services. Days later we received a call only to be told our case was still under investigation.
We then received an email days later saying they had credited our account with £200 and that the driver had been laid off, which was not exactly a comfort.
Speaking with the office again asking about the insurance we had paid for they told us the insurance was only in the event the damage was caused by a road accident and there was nothing more they could do for us. After this experience we will never use a moving company again!!!
