Google Bad Review: My dad is paralysed on the entire left side of his body and has a tracheostomy. He was transported by people who were rude and not at all compassionate or accommodating.
We live in a flat on the first floor with no lift. Thus my dad is transported using a carrier chair down 2 flights of stairs. Firstly the carrier chair equipment did not meet his needs. His left leg flops to the side as it limped. This could potentially hurt him on the bannisters down the stairs. The staff proceeded to use his arm sling to band his legs together. This was potentially dangerous and made us feel uneasy. They took about 45 minutes to get him down the stairs. This normally takes around 15 minutes with the NHS staff that transport him for his monthly appointments.
My dad travelled with his own wheelchair and a ReTurn in the ambulance and back. When we got home, the staff had carried my dad up. The ReTurn and wheelchair was still downstairs. I asked the staff to go get it as he needs the ReTurn to get back into his bed. One staff member outright refused and asked me to go get it myself. On a normal day I would have gotten it up myself but I have a leg infection thus could not. I informed him that this equipment was essential to my dads transfer and since his job is PATIENT TRANSFER, this did not seem like a unreasonable request. He continued to argue with me and then said he just needs a break.
The absolute cherry on the top was that the staff member complained that “do you think this job is easy” infront of my father who cannot even move or get up with assistance of two. This was the most idiotic and selfish thing someone in a compassionate and caring role would say, making my father feel embarrassed and a burden. Frankly, if you cannot do a manual handling job which depends on your active strength, find a new one.
Overall, poor service. Will be avoiding at all costs. Hopefully the NHS stop working with them.
