Google Bad Review 1: We used to come here almost on a weekly basis. However recently we’ve been very disappointed with the way their receptionists treat their customers. Last time, we went there we were seated in a very busy part of the restaurant. There were a couple of places available by the window side. When we asked the receptionist whether we could move to that space he did not even bother making a sensible excuse. He just nodded his head and said “no”, which we felt was quite rude and not a great way to start our weekend, so we left the restaurant.
We expect better treatment, in particular given their prices. We will be looking for alternatives.

Google Bad Review (2): If it weren't for the nausea that the jalapeno cornbread breakfast gave me, I probably wouldn't have made the time to make a complaint just about the service. When we were tightly seated between two other couples (it felt like we were almost sharing the same table with them despite there being a whole side of the room still free), I asked for the golden spiced milk. She said they didn't have almond milk but would see if they could make it. Great, I thought, grateful she's going to check. She came back and announced, ‘they do have almond milk but they didn't make it today.' I asked if they could make it (given it's on the menu) and she said not today. Right. A good start. I then proceeded to order a dish I've previously had at Exmouth's Caravan. Having had the recent joy of it's colourful and zingy abundance, I expected at least a roughly similar balance of flavours when I visited the Bankside Chain. Instead I got a headache and a day of nausea and regret that I didn't stand up for myself after complaining once. I noticed the dish was served with 1 fried egg hiding another on top of 2 overly oily slabs of cornbread, on a plate of that pinky mayo, a spoon of under-seasoned hard black beans and sprinkled in coriander and spring onion. I asked the waitress: Sorry, wasn't there supposed to be other things like tomato? She pointed to it, it's there- the orange stuff. And that was it. Service. Sorry, that was mayo, and it was served in mounds. I was hungry. And, being there on a special occasion, I didn't want to kick a fuss, so I started eating anyway, skirting my way around the mayo; a real chore. I felt I was ingesting a mudslide of oil and mayo bite after bite, compensating by the sickliness by taking another bite. This was far from the experience I had at Exmouth. Then I looked at the menu later: There were supposed to be pickled red onion, and tomatillo feta.. the ingredients are there to cut through the richness. They were certainly not on my plate. Yet no effort was made to look into it after I had asked. My friend ordered the sesame porridge, but couldn't eat it. Was it supposed to be that way? Leaving a bowl full of porridge, you'd think the waitress might ask if there was something wrong? Or if everything was ok? Instead she carried it off, far too ready to hand us the bill. Caravan Bankside, you underestimate the importance of starting with a good breakfast, and decent customer service. Has your chef ever tasted what he served? Has there been training on how to deal with customer issues in service? Maybe you weren't prepared to learn from customers wishes at the restaurant, so I leave this here with hopes you take these things on board to make the experience less nauseating- literally.
