Google Bad Review 1: February 2022 – New summons to be submitted to cover damages resulting from incomplete work.
August 2021- Uncontested County Court Judgement Awarded Against Pedro Duarte t/a Best Bud Garden Service.
Below is a summary of my account submitted in the court papers available to the general public. I am happy to provide Google with a copy of the order to verify my account of the events.
Garden project was a present to my 85yr mother who had been seriously ill for some time. Project: lay new tiles, build a knee-high raised bed and repair a concrete path. The owner Pedro, who also goes by the name Curtis and Marcus, quoted it as a 3-man_5-day project. Started in February 2021 still incomplete at the end of May 2021. In fairness, rain was a factor in March however, there is no excuse for the following 2 months of delays and sub-standard work. Day 1 they arrived nearly an hour after the deliveries. The real problems started from day 3 when one worker was a no show. The project was extend to 7 then 10 days after which I lost count.
-Main Problems
1… Regularly had to chase the office re. no shows/ arriving 10.30-11am and leaving 3-3.30pm
2… arriving with no tools or materials
3… tiles laid uneven – wrong sand ordered, no spacers or spirit level used…
4…unnecessary delays – ordering materials on the day, cancelling on rainy days – there’s no rain…, refusing to pay parking fees, many hours wasted going to B&Q for supplies
5… plants destroyed
6…raised bed – wrong height, incomplete, poorly assembled
7…concrete path – uneven, peeling after heavy rain
8…my tools destroyed, used without consent
9…drain blocked
10..manhole cover sealed with concrete
11.. damage to the inside of the house
12..convenient ‘sick days'
13..end date missed/ignored
14..multiple no-shows by owner
15.. twooo floods in the kitchen due to the drain pipe being blocked with concrete they emptied down the drain
16..halfway through the job pestered for remaining fee
17.. another skip ordered to remove 2 tonnes of sand not required
18..their rubbish dumped in my skip without consent … the list goes on.
-Fix The Works 01: After a scathing call and email from my partner, they agreed to certain fixes, but these were not completed to an even reasonable standard.
-Fix The Works 02: Two younger workers took over and had a reasonable attempt to fix and complete. During this period I was advised by the supervisor's step-son that he had never laid slabs before and was not trained to do the other jobs. The fix included ripping out the raised bed and relaying the tiles. The sleepers were warped, new sleepers were purchased from a different supplier so sleepers did not fit correctly. Two weeks into the fix one worker was pulled from the project as pedro do not want to lose any more of His Money on the project. Finally near the end of May pedro guaranteed the worker would attend and complete the work. No show and no call to advise of this. At this point legal action was threatened and I was advised by pedro that I should be grateful that he even bothered to return to fix any of the problems.
This whole experience has been very stressful for my mother and I. She was effectively held hostage upstairs for 3 months, as the protective flooring laid, was so dangerous she could not walk anywhere without tripping. Many pictures are available of the work and state the garden was left in.
