Google Bad Review 1: I started using Berringer’s over 9 years ago as they were a local accountants and seemed to have a lovely attitude towards small businesses. I remember meeting one of the partners, Colin, who couldn't do enough to help and get my business started. He helped me recruit my first member of staff and was brilliant with giving advice.
Unfortunately, things started to change after he left the company.
For starters their customer service became awful. It took days to get a reply to a simple email. As I was a small business I was allocated the most junior staff member, even the apprentice sometimes.
You also only heard from them when there's was an invoice to pay and never for the wellbeing of the business. Their tax advice was not proactive or tax efficient, and left a lot to be desired.
The fees creep up from year to year and they'll also add charges to your invoices that you've not agreed to or signed up to.
I would not suggest using Berringers if you're a small to medium sized business. They used to be a great accountants, but I have now found a better and cheaper service elsewhere. My new accountants have also saved me tax by being more proactive.
