Google Bad Review: I had a good experience buying with Barnfields – so when I came to sell my property, it felt natural to put it on the market with them… and oh-my-goodness!!!
In summary – lazy, disorganised, unprofessional…
I put my property on with them – I should have twigged when the particulars they had drafted used negative language and were full of spelling errors. The 1st sentence wasn't even a sentence! I ended up detail proof-reading it and sending it back – and then reviewing the corrections – Which was still done incorrectly!
They never followed up on viewings – I had to call them every time. When I complained, they apologised and promised that it wouldn't happen again – and it happened again on the very next viewing.
I eventually got an offer. They then failed to collect details of the buyer. I chased weekly. Every time I called, I spoke to a different person who had a different version of events. They clearly don't talk to each other and don't keep their “online system” up-to-date. The purchaser eventually disappeared – and no explanation was ever given.
Their tactic to increase viewings through the door was always simply “lower the price”…
Eventually I went to another local agent – who made Barnfields look like amateurs. I completed and sold my house with the other estate agents.
Quite humorously – 1 week after completion – I received a call from Barnard Marcus' HQ (recent purchasers of Barnfields) who were reviewing Barnfields' data who wanted to ask me whether I was still interested in selling my property since Barnfields “did a valuation of it a year ago”??? I guess this lack of detail in their online systems explains how no one knew anything!!!
