Google Bad Review: I had my car taken to Acton Coachworks after it was hit by another car. The service was really poor on several counts.
What was orginally slated as 5 week repair job took 14 weeks. Their communication was terrible. Weeks would go by where nothing had been done to the car. I had to constantly chase them up and even had to have my father, who’s a mechanic in Scotland, call them as they kept giving me, a woman, the runaround.
I was told on numerous occasions that the car would be ready at the end of the week, it never was. I had to delay business travel three times because they were unable to meet the deadlines they set. When I enquired I was told various parts hadn’t arrived. Often I was told a certain part had arrived one week only to be told thy were waiting on the same part the following week.
When I did go to get the car, they neglected to inform me I’d have to pay the excess, VAT and a fee before collecting, thankfully I had enough money to do so. My insurance company later told me this was not the done thing and refunded me the money. Worst of all the repairs had not been finished when I arrived to collect. In an attempt to cover themselves they tried to clear the dash warning lights and failed because they had not adequately repaired the car.
I discovered on my drive home that the tyre and motion sensors, the air con and the brakes were all not working correctly.
Acton coachworks collected the car and promised to have it fixed by Monday. They did not.
When it was returned to me there were still several problems – including a totally failure of the assisted braking system.
In the end I had to take the car to a different garage, where the repairs were correctly carried out. And I believe my insurance had Acton Coachworks refund money for the several repairs they failed to carry out.
It was a nightmare. I would avoid this place like the plague.
