I see that the salon just responds to 1 star reviews with “this is a fake review”, but worth a try. This is by no means a fake review.

I'd been going to this salon for a while to get my colour done and decided to get hair extensions next to thicken out my hair and add length. I'd like to say that they did great colour, and the atmosphere was great when it was great. I never complained once, until this awful experience with the hair extensions.

I won't mention names, but I paid the stylist well over £300 to apply the 100+ pieces of extensions to my hair. The colour looked fab, but the cut was awful. I came back a couple of days later and eventually, after awkwardly trying to show them how uneven it all looked with my mum on the phone, another stylist fixed it. I was very happy.

But, within a couple of days, all the pieces began falling out and I could feel my natural hair breaking. Not just 5-10 pieces came out (as I'd been advised and am aware can happen), but closer to 50 pieces. This was over half of the extensions she initially applied. Within 2 weeks! Not only that, but as the bits were half hanging off my head, they pulled at my real hair and tore out my real hair when the extensions came out.

After calling and expressing my concern, I was just told that it's basically my fault as I must have been pulling them and adding too much pressure to them. I absolutely was not doing anything wrong. They took ZERO responsibility for it and told me to come back in. No mention, of course of a refund or taking any blame.

When I then went in (with handfuls of extensions in my hand) I awkwardly explained that I was worried about my natural hair and would much rather have them all taken out and refunded. She dodged the refund remark like a bullet, no surprises there.

I was given every excuse under the sun (my hair is too thin, she put them in far away from my scalp, I was pulling at them etc), other than “Of course we will refund you and take them out! I wouldn't want to cause damage to your hair and I can see that I messed up!”.

I sat as she attempted to add the pieces back in and fix the mess she'd made. Every time she asked me if it “looks okay” I responded with “Well no, I'd rather have them out please”. To which I was ignored. When I asked her to be honest and whether she'd seen so many fall out, she did admit that this was unusual. But still, of course, no refund. She just continued to attempt to add pieces here and there. None of the pieces matched, and they were all different lengths, and I literally told her time and time again “I'm not happy, I just want them out”. But she continued to chop away at them and ignore my complaints.

This is, obviously, the last time I will visit this salon. Making money is more valuable to them than admitting when they messed up and they've now very possibly destroyed my natural hair because of this. I'll have to wait and see when I get them removed next week (of course, by a professional).

Shame, as I was open and honest with them the whole time, and instead of being made to feel like an idiot, I wish that they'd have just recognised the error of their ways, taken the pieces out for the health of my potentially now damaged hair, and let me go. It's okay to admit when you've done something wrong.
